Central Washington is quite dry and to be a successful farmer you needs lots of irrigation equipment. This sprinkler was sitting idle during the brutaly cold winter in the Methow valley.

What would country life be without home grown medallions? Hidden in the wheat fields all summer, they emerge in the fall for all to admire. They are bigger than pumpkins, make fine serving platters and can light up a room with their gleaming smile.

Hammock
published by: nramkarran
There are few countries remaining, apart from Guyana, where the hammock plays such an important role in the home. It is only within the last 20 years that the sight of a hammock under the house became less common in the city. 5 miles out of Georgetown, in the countryside you are unlikely to pass any house that does not have one or more occupied hammocks. It is the quintessential Guyanese country life sight.

King Cotton

This cotton field is located upcountry outside of Statesborough where we spent Thanksgiving Day with extended family. The trees are pecan with hundreds of nuts scattered on the ground below them. We spent most of the morning picking them up, cracking their hard shells together and eating the sweet nut hidden inside before sitting down to our Thanksgiving feast. This is among my favorite photographs of the collection. It is like stepping back one hundred and fifty years in time. It also stirs recollections of a very special day.

Hay Rolls in South Dakota

I had spotted these hay rolls near where we were staying and waited until the dramatic lighting of a coming storm combined with the golden hour for optimizing the capture of this photo. Even though I recently sumitted this photo for the Golden Hour challenge, I realize that the version submitted was 'under' the desired resolution. I am now resubmitting it in high resolution with better editing for a great example of 'Country'.

Donkey having a craic
published by: uriguri
Craic being an Irish language word for good times, gossip, [...] debauchery of any kind, or good clean fun. No real English equivalent.
Fun doesn't really cut it though. General banter, good times had by all.
Also, a person who is good fun/great company.
