This is a shot from my Loving skeletons album. These figures were found on an Oxfordshire hillside next to a falling down Barn. A local artist had paid the farmer to place the statue on his land. Some of the locals like it, many Hate it.

This is a detail from one of the first Tanks ever made, and it is found in the Imperial War Museum London

Kathakali is the classical dance-drama of Kerala, South India, which dates from the 17th century and is rooted in Hindu mythology. A traditional performance takes place in a temple, it begins in the evening and continues throughout the night, culminating at the auspicious hour of dawn, when Good finally conquers Evil. In Kathakali, the story is enacted purely by the movements of the hands and by facial expressions and bodily movements. A Kathakali actor uses immense concentration, skill and physical stamina, gained from training based on Kalaripayattu, the ancient martial art of Kerala, to prepare for his demanding role.Training can often last for 8-10 years. Dancers also undergo special practice sessions to learn control of their eye movements. They have daily sessions of eye exercises and gymnastics from 3 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. which end up with an oil massage. This is a special feature of the training in which the teacher, holding to a bar, massages the student with his feet and toes, working oil into every joint and muscle. The process is painful, but it does create the required fitness and flexibility of body. One of the most interesting aspects of Kathakali is its elaborate make-up code. The make up is made from various mineral ores and pigments. They are ground on a stone and mixed with coconut oil before being applied on the face. Some characters also have their features enhanced, such as an enlarged nose or an elaborate mustache. Dancers also often place a chundanga seed under their lower eyelid before the performance to turn the white of their eyes red. This redness, which is not painful and lasts for about five hours, greatly enhances the expressions of the eyes which play such an important part in Kathakali acting.

A more closely cropped image from my 'Northern Michigan...' album. They are, of course, arctic birds - but in the depths of winter, think Huron County, Michigan, is a lot like the arctic tundra. I guess they ought to know better than anyone. This one was sitting on a telephone pole, and seemed unimpressed by the guy down on ground the with a camera. (Can you tell?)

Our great horned owl could spot a small bug on a blade of grass from 20 feet, and waddle over to get it. He wasn't captive, just came and went as he pleased. We rescued him as a little white ball of feathers when his mother was killed by a turkey farmer.

BEST VIEWED FULL Screen. You can see the riverbank and tall trees reflected in the Pelicans eye, beautifully framed in yellow. I had spent over an hour slowly getting closer and closer to this beautiful bird. I have finally been able to upload 2 new albums of Featherd Friends and the Duck Water Ballet which I hope you will enjoy.

You have to look at this photo enlarged to appreciate the beautiful eyes of this little owl. We found him not feeling well, housing himself in our chicken house. We set him up with a perch, food, and water, and when he got his strength back he moved on. He was absolutely adorable! Blessings, Judy

I liked how the reflections of the stone bridge over the River Dart formed an eye,framing the scene in the distance. I had entered this one in the bridge challenge but that one had added text below it so here it is without the text.

This is my cat "Muffin Man". Isn't he adorable?

It was about 95 degrees this day and she was laying out on the kitty deck my husband made for the kitties, it is an enclosed deck off of the bathroom window about 2 ft x 1.5 ft, overlooking the backyard and garden. He built this 5 years ago now I see a substandard small version for sale in pet catalogs. I told him to get a patent on this!

The theatre is behind a high set of railings, the pillars of which are adorned with enormous stone heads. The Greco-Roman faces are massive and they all look faintly astonished, with gaping mouths and wild eyes. This one looks like he's got his beady eyes on you!!

This photo was taken from the back seat of a rollercoaster about to start a ride at a theme park.

My daughter is a drama student and intends to be a world famous actress. This is a little joke at her expense, although I should be careful - she's the nearest thing I've got to a retirement plan. Very easy PS job. Picture desaturated. Stars inserted via the clone tool with source set to an entirely separate picture of the night sky. Moon was cut from a picture I had lying around, pasted in as a layer, resized and moved into place over an existing highlight. This photo was made today, although all the component parts for it are older.

Watching my teenage grandaughters put on makeup it occurred to me this would be a good idea for an enty. So hope you like.

I applied a special antiquing effect to the background here, which my wife Marg, said was OK since I am an "OLD ANTIQUE" anyway.
