One piece of clothing would have been pathetic.

One emptied bottle would also have been pathetic.

I love watching these little barn swallows bolt around the lake near my house. They are very quick and agile little birds. I noticed that they liked to rest on that particular section of wire fence, so I sat nearby and waited for them to land.

I only had one plant of this variety blooming this year, but have divided it into 7 different plants for a much better show next year.

These flowers seem to last forever--even in the hot temperatures that we've been having. Being in a somewhat protected area of the yard where it doesn't receive full sun probably turned out to be a good thing in lengthening the duration of the bloom time.

The San Francisco Painted Ladies are a row of Victorian homes located on Steiner Street between Hayes and Grove. When viewed from Alamo Square (the park across the street), the Painted Ladies are in stark contrast to the modern skyline of downtown San Francisco. This contrast has made the Painted Ladies the most famous of the 14,000 Victorian homes in San Francisco.

I stopped and took this picture on my way up to the peak of the mountain. Best viewed large.

If one is good, isn’t more better? The repetition of pattern and color can be seen in each square of this child's quilt and by the placement of the squares. Even the fabrics are repeated in the 'piano keys' border.

Jelly bellies are gourmet jelly beans. There are 49 different flavors here. My favorite is Cappuccino, but I've only found 3 so far. ;)

I took this photograph in a dark room with a black sheet behind the Amaryllis. I took a one second manual exposure at an F14 as I quickly moved a hand held single light across the flowers side to side to eliminate most shadows side to side.

A graceful fern when young, here with an opening fiddlehead. The fiddleheads are a delicassy during spring, they taste a lot like asparagus. see wikipedia: Some ferns contain carcinogens, and Bracken has been implicated in stomach cancer.[citation needed] Despite this, most people can eat ostrich and cinnamon fern fiddleheads without any problems. In 1994, there were several instances of food poisoning associated with raw or lightly cooked fiddleheads (08538-552k)

Getting a little swimming in.

After realizing that I had submitted portait style photos, which are not supported by the creative challenge, I rotated and cropped to achieve this result. You can't really tell it is a bridge tower, but it does support the "multiple" theme.

I love the graphic presentation and the complimentary colors of these beach umbrellas. This was photographed at the end of summer last year when the mornings were cool enough that noone was on the beach yet.

Clear tropical waters on the west coast of Florida provide great oppurtunities for getting good shots of fish.

This was one of the most vivid rainbows I have ever seen, which was even better because of the reflection in the lake. There is also a faint second rainbow!

Tiger Swallowtails. Photo taken at Wildwood Lake outside Harrisburg, PA. Had to be patient for this shot. There were several butterflies on the butterfly bush so I just sat and watched. Usually, when one butterfly lands on the same flower as another one, one of them fly off. But the second butterfly slowly walked along the flower and I waited until the one with its back to us had turned to be perfectly in line with the other one. It was over in a couple of seconds as the first one then flew off.

This was an arts project of the city of Dublin, Ohio to representing how Dublin grew out of the cornfields.

56 of the more than 272 album covers produced by Paul Ewing since 2002. I approach the completion of 10,000 images in over 272 different albums. My goal is to achieve one and a half million hits at the same exact moment as the number of paulewing images reaches 10,000. As of now I have completed 9,576 images and have achieved 1,474,167 hits. A race against time and fate!

Talk about multiples: the ferris wheel has 40 spokes and 40 cable cars (gondolas), and 16,000 lights that look gorgeous at night! It takes 7.5 minutes to make a full rotation and carries about a million riders a year, including myself. It's 150 feet high and was modeled after the original ferris wheel that was built for the Columbian Exposition of 1893. The original one was an astounding 250 feet high! It had 36 cable cars attached to it, took a little more than 20 minutes to go around, and could fit up to 60 passengers each! A live-oak-lined walking path in Audubon Park, New Orleans (USA), in late February. These oaks retain some leaves throughout the year. On the morning of Mardi Gras Day 2009, very few walkers or runners are in the park!

Rows of grapevines in a vineyard (vignoble) of the Sancerrois (above the Loire Valley, in the departement of Cher, France), as shadows lengthen on a clear evening at the end of May. The chalky ground helps to account for the minerality of the dry Sancerre white wine for which the Sancerrois is particularly known, made from the Sauvignon blanc grape. Clay is also found in the soils of this area.
