I love the graphic presentation and the complimentary colors of these beach umbrellas. This was photographed at the end of summer last year when the mornings were cool enough that noone was on the beach yet.

Yet another view of the impossibly clear water at Spiaggia della Pelosa. This late summer photo show couples at one of the most famous beaches in Sardenia Italy near the little town of Stintino. The gradual increase in the depth of water allows even children to play comfortably in some of the most vivid colored water I have ever seen.

You probably think: Why did she put a picture of ice for "creative challenge summer"? No! it is not a mistake. January is summer time in Antarctica. The days are long, the tempratures are "high" (0 celsius as compared to minus 60 in the winter).

My dear sweet daughter - took an hour to get the sand out of her hair. This was just the start of sand in the hair -I believe she left the beach this day with most of the sand on her than on the beach itself.

South of Mombasa , across Likoni Creek lies a vast uninterrupted stretch of white sandy beach lapped by fascinating opal lagoons. Diani Beach is perhaps the most spectacular ribbon of flawless tropical beach, shaded with palm and Casuarina. Here one find a range of fine hotels offering a wide variety of watersports and activities. Behind the beach are patches of original forest, the most extensive of which is Jadini- a morning's trek from the beach hotels - where colobus monkeys, baboons, birds and butterflies run riot. A few more kilometres inland is the cool and refreshing wildlife getaway of the Shimba Hills National Park. At the far southern end of the coast is unspoilt Shimoni, with its relics of the slave trade and coral gardens. The Kisite/ Mpunguti Marine Park can be reached from Shimoni or nearby Wasini lsland, a lovely trip by dhow or motorboat to an intriguing underwater world

Summer in Australia 2008, only the Wrights could book a holiday in Australia and hit five days of rain. I love this image, no one to watch over the die-hards.

The day the sun came out, it was a welcome relief after five days of rain, you can see the remains of the storm moving away to the east, the thing that fascinated me about this image is the perspective, the warning flag is higher than the "Q deck" the highest residential building in the world.

I know most people think of travel, vacations, fun, in summer, but to us summer means work. I tell Brady that I should be charging him for helping to create all those muscles. Of course, working out a couple hours every night after working here all day probably helps. thanks to all who have stopped by. Brady has worked hard on his body and is pretty proud of it. Of course he does have youth on his side also. He is not all brawn, as he graduated summa cum laude this past spring, not that Grandma is proud or anything. He also writes some wonderful music on the computer and guitar.

Vung Tau is a resort town in the province of Dong Nai, 125 km from Ho Chi Minh City (or Saigon until the end of the Vietnam war), Vietnam. Vung Tau is easily reached by ferry from Ho Chi Minh City. Unfortunately, we lost our big rock of this kind- Staburags. It was inundated by the storage pond of hydroelectric power station. No one took care for nature then...

Fun summer scenes can be had all day at the 1996 site of the Olympics in Ocoee, TN on the Ocoee River. Sit and watch the wild rides and faces of all the rafters in the Level 3 and 4 waters. There are 7 people on this raft Coming back up after a waterfall drop.

It looked like it was going to be a fierce thunderstorm but it was bluffing. Three raindrops later this showed up. Summer sunsets always look different than winter ones to me. Winter sunsets seem cold and bitter reminders of the warm days long past. Summer sunsets seem very active and tumultuous due to the humidity and ever changing atmosphere here in the midwest.

Went down to Sebastian Inlet here in Florida and my niece, Sara had a blast in the knee high water of the inlet on her blow up raft. I think looking at her reminds us of what it was like when we were kids. How quickly time flys.

This is nice

when I think of summer, I think of Dandelions. the beautiful yellow flowers or the wispy head of seeds. As a child we spent hours finding the pods and blowing them all over the place - spreading dandelions everywhere and making millions of wishes.

I loved this boat ride on the Newport Harbor last summer - made me feel so alive and free, that I was truly myself in the ocean breezes. to be surrounded by water - somewhere near or on the ocean - that is the best part of summer.

Nothing says "Summer" like a romantic walk on the beach at sunset.

Summertime in Eastern Washington means farming and growing staples like wheat, corn and potatoes. This wheat field lies just outside of Walla Walla in the heart of the Palouse.

Summer is also a time for soaking up the beauty and splendor of gardens in full bloom. The magnificent Butchart Gardens in Victoria, B.C., is a wonderful place to spend a sunny summer day.

The two children never got tired playing with their Hula-Hoops. They had a lot of fun, even on a rainy summer day! Took the photo under the overhang of the Tenney Shelter (seen in a following photo), looking towards the Tenney Lagoon. This was at a potluck get-together, people sharing poetry, stories, singing songs, and folksdancing while a small band of four played their favorite music. People just enjoyed sharing and the rain didn't seem to bother them a bit. The ones who stayed to the end had a hard time getting home, because the water was getting higher and started flooding. Oh what fun, when the fair comes to town.(I was a little worried a shoe might fall down while taking the photo and knock me out )

Summer here in New Zealand means shearing sheep and keeping cool. Cooler for the sheep I mean.

Alberta may have some tough days to endure in the winter, but the best part about summer is all the extra hours of daylight. This picture was taken after a storm, plenty of daylight left at 9:30 pm.
