My official cadet photo my last year in the Academy. This is the one uniform that the Coast Guard and the Navy share, the dress whites. They are made of canvas and are very stiff. After graduation, officers rarely wear them. Part of being a cadet is learning formalities and looking the part. You can see here that even before graduation I, like most cadets, had been awarded a few awards.
