Jim picked this 850 Spider up at the Fiat factory depot in Rome, summer 1969. He & Mark drove it all over Europe & shipped it to the US. Note the fog & driving lights, installed on a sidewalk in Rome (along with a luggage rack on the rear deck). On the trip from Budapest to Frankfurt (en route to Amsterdam to ship the car to the US), Jim’s only eye began bothering him and he asked Mark, then nearly 16, if he wanted to drive. He did, of course, and he proceeded to drive the 650 miles to Frankfurt. At Amsterdam, Jim and Mark watched the Apollo-Saturn launch on July 16, 1969 on a hotel TV, and flew to Boston the next day. Taken in Athens, OH abt. 1970 with a 15-year-old friend of Mark & Hil.
