- Why do I get an error every time I download an image?
You may need to clear your Temporary Internet files. This varies with the browser you are using. The directions for Internet Explorer 8 and 9 follow.
- Open your Internet browser.
- Click on Tools.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click the Delete button under Browsing History.
- Select to delete the Temporary Internet files.
- Click Delete.
If this doesn't work, please try the following: Go to Start-> All Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools and run Disk Cleanup from the menu.

- What methods of payment do you accept?

- I'm having trouble downloading the Webshots Desktop Application. What can I do?
In order to download the Webshots Desktop Software, please check the following:
1. You are the administrator or have administrative privileges for your computer.
2. Your Internet Security program(s) accepts the installer.
3. Your firewall does not block the installer.
4. You have your Webshots user name and password handy as you will need to sign in to personalize the application. When you put these in their respective fields, please be sure to not have any spaces before or after the user name or password. Please type this information in lower case.
Please visit http://www.webshots.com/page/apps?app=desktop&vhost=www and click the "Download Now" button to begin the download and installation process. Once you have the Webshots Desktop installed, select a photo to download by clicking it so it is enlarged. If you are in our Professional Photos section, click the green Download button and select the High Resolution, Widescreen or Regular radio button. If you are in the Community section, click the photo and look for the green download this photo button. Photos will automatically install to your Webshots software.

- What file formats are accepted for uploading video?
Members can upload videos with the following formats:
MPEG audio, MPEG1 systems, MPEG2 PS, MPEG2 TS, ASF, AVI, WAV, Macromedia Flash, FLV, Real Audio and Video, Raw AC3, Raw MJPEG, Raw MPEG video, Raw PCM8/16 bits, mulaw/Alaw Raw CRI ADX audio, SUN AU format, NUT, Quicktime, MPEG4, Raw MPEG4 video, DV, 4xm, Playstation STR, Id RoQ, Interplay MVE, WC3 Movie, Sega FILM/CPK, Westwood Studios VQA/AUD, Id Cinematic (.cin), FLIC format, Sierra VMD, Matroska.
Premium members can upload videos no larger than 150 mbs and under 10 minutes. Free members can upload videos no larger than 75mbs and should be under 5 minutes in length.
Premium members are provided the initial capacity of 500 videos with 50 additional for each month of membership. Free members are given a capacity of 100 videos to begin with 10 additiional for each month.
Resolution for videos: 432x324 for Premium, 352x240 for Free members.

- How do I upload a video to Webshots?
Uploading a video to Webshots is as simple as uploading a photo. To add videos to your Community albums, go to www.webshots.com, log in, and then click on 'Upload' at the top of our website.
- Click 'Choose Files'
- select the video(s) you want to upload.
- Select the album title that you'd like to add videos to or create a new album.
- Select the Category and Subcategory.
- Click the 'upload' button.
- Next, you can add a title, caption, and tags to your video and save all changes.
- Now you click 'View Album' to save your changes.

- Can I use images posted by other members for printed projects?
In order to use a photo posted by another Webshots member, please contact the photographer by leaving a comment under the photo. When comments are left, a notification is immediately sent to that member unless the member has disabled the feature.

- How do I download an entire page of photos?
Webshots Premium members can download entire pages of Professional Photos from previous daily photos (archive). Photos in the Community section can only be downloaded individually. Members are not able to download albums with one click.
To download an entire page of photos:
- Go to the previous daily photos here.
- Select a Collection.
- The 'Download Page' button is to the right of the Collection Title at the top of the page.
- Click on the Download Page button and select the format you would like to download.
- The page of photos will automatically download to your Webshots Desktop Application.

- How do I adjust the Webshots photos to fill my widescreen monitor?
Please use these steps to enlarge Webshots photos to best fit your monitor screen.
- Open the Webshots Desktop Application.
- Click the Options button.
- Choose the screensaver tab.
- Put a check in the box next to 'Enlarge picture to best fit desktop.'
- Now, choose the wallpaper tab.
- Put a check in the box next to 'Enlarge picture to best fit desktop.' Please also select 'Crop with picture's aspect ratio.'
- Click OK to save your changes.
Please note that the only photos that will fill a widescreen monitor are our Professional Photos downloaded in widescreen format. These are formatted for 16:9 monitors.

- How do I transfer Webshots from an old computer to a new one?
The best way to move Webshots to your new computer is to save your 'Webshots Data' folder to a disk. This may require a CD, DVD or flash drive as the folder could contain many images. The Webshots Data folder is located, by default, in the Documents directory. Once you have your new computer, copy the Webshots Data folder to the Documents directory on the new hard drive. Finally, install the Webshots Desktop Application on your new computer by going here and clicking the 'download now' button. When you install the Webshots software, it will find the photo Collections and install them.

- Why doesn't my calendar update?
The Webshots calendar will only update automatically when Webshots is in your system tray. To enable this, open the Webshots Desktop Application and click on the Options button. Check the box next to 'Show tray icon.' Click 'OK' to make the change. Occasionally, the Webshots calendar date may not update automatically. In this case, update your calendar by pressing the CTRL SHIFT W keys simultaneously on your keyboard. Also, the Webshots calendar receives its information from your internal clock. To update your internal clock, double click on the time on the bottom right side of your computer. Update the date and click OK. Refresh your wallpaper in order for the Webshots calendar to update.

- I'm having problems downloading photos. Can you help me?
First, make sure you have downloaded and installed the Webshots Desktop Application. Visit here and click the 'download now' button to begin the download and installation. Please be sure you are signed in to your membership. To download a Professional Photo, select the photo and place the mouse over the Download button. Select high-Res (1600 x 1200, 4:3), widescreen (1920 x 1080, 16:9) or regular (800 x 600, 4:3). The photo will download automatically to the Desktop Application.
If you are in the Community section, click the 'download photo' button.
If you are receiving the error: "A problem occurred extracting files to C:\Windows\Temp\WebshotsTemp\," please clear the Temporary Internet files on your browser and try again.

- I forgot my member name and/or password. How do I log in?
Please click "log in" and then click "Forgot your member name or password." Enter the email address associated with your account(s). Click your member name, and an email will be sent to you with a link to reset your password. Your account information will only be sent to the same email address that is listed in your Account page.

- How do I adjust my wallpaper and screensaver settings on the Webshots Desktop?
To adjust your wallpaper and screensaver settings, open the Webshots Desktop Application on your desktop.
To change your wallpaper manually:
- Select the photo you'd like to use on your desktop wallpaper.
- Click the 'Set Wallpaper' button.
To set the wallpaper to change automatically:
- Click the 'Options' button.
- Select the 'Wallpaper' tab
- Use the drop down menu next to 'Automatically cycle wallpaper every' to choose your selection of time. Put a number in the box before the time you have selected, so you have 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 1 hours, etc. Select 1 never to prevent automatic changes to the wallpaper.
- Click 'OK' to save your changes.
To enable your Webshots screensaver:
- Click the 'Options' button.
- Click the 'Screensaver' tab.
- Check the box next to 'Use Webshots as screensaver'
- Set when you want the screensaver to begin and how long you want each image to display.
- Click 'OK' to save your changes.
To have your wallpaper and screensaver fill the entire monitor:
- Click the 'Options' button.
- Click the 'screensaver' tab.
- Check the box next to 'Enlarge picture to best fit desktop'
- Repeat the process on the 'wallpaper' tab.
- Choose 'crop with picture's aspect ratio'
- Click 'OK' to save your changes.
Please note that the photos will fill monitor screens in 4:3 or 16:9 format. Laptop monitors may not be this format and, consequently, black bars will fill the space around the photos.

- Can I use Webshots Professional Photos for uses other than wallpaper or screensavers?
No. You can't extract or print Webshots Professional Photos. They are all specially encoded to protect the copyright privileges of our professional photographers. Webshots Professional Photos can only be used within the Webshots Desktop Application as wallpaper or screensavers for your desktop.
Webshots has purchased the rights to use the Professional Photos within Webshots. We are not authorized to allow them to be used elsewhere. If you would like to use any of the images, you will need to contact the photographer or company. There is a link or name under most of the images on our website. If you are interested in contacting a member from the Webshots community, you may do so by leaving a comment under the photo. When comments are left, a notification is immediately sent to that member unless the member has disabled that feature.

- How do I upload photos to Webshots?
You can upload photos via the Webshots Desktop Application or the website.
To upload photos via the Webshots Desktop Application, open the software by double clicking the icon on your desktop.
- Click the 'My Files Online' tab.
- Click the 'Upload More' button.
- Create a new album or select an album you have previously created.
- Click the 'Next' button.
- Locate the images on your computer that you would like to upload.
- Select one image by clicking it, or select multiple images by holding the 'CTRL' key and clicking several images.
- Click 'open'
- Click 'upload' to move the photo online.
To upload from the website,make sure that you're logged in to your account.
- Click on 'Upload' under your member name.
- Select the photos by clicking the 'choose files' button.
- To add multiple images, click on photos while holding the 'CTRL' key. Click open.
- Select or create an album.
- Select a category and subcategory.
- Click 'Upload.'

- How do I subscribe to Webshots newsletters and alerts?
To sign up for our free newsletters, please log in to your membership at www.webshots.com and select My Shots. Now, go to the account tab and then to newsletters in the navigation bar on the left. Check the newsletters you would like to receive and click the apply changes button. Repeat the process to sign up for Alerts.

- What are tags?
Tags are labels or keywords that are used to group pictures, videos, and albums. You can add tags to individual photos and videos as well as to the album. This is great when your album contains a variety of pictures and videos. For example, your Greece album can be tagged "Greece, travel, vacation, 2009," while your photo of the Parthenon at sunset in it can be tagged "Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens, sunset, temple, Greece." Notice that you can have spaces between tags, such as "Acropolis of Athens." You can use a phrase or a single word as a tag, So get creative and make your own unique tags, such as "Baby Jenny Month 1" or "Scenes of the West."
To add a tags, open the album or click on the photo or video and then select add tags. Start typing descriptive words or phrases and separate each tag with a comma. Click apply to keep the changes. You can find a list of interesting tags here.

- How do I delete a tag?
Please sign in to your Webshots membership and go to the photo, video or album page and look for the tag you want to delete in your list of tags. Click on the 'x' to delete that tag from that photo, video or album.

- Why am I having problems accessing the Webshots site and/or uploading photos?
You may be behind a firewall, which is interfering with access to and from Webshots. Some common ones may be Zone Alarm or Norton Internet Security. If these are not configured correctly, they can cause issues with receiving the full benefits of the Webshots browsing experience. Please adjust your firewall to allow passage for the entire Webshots.com domain. Refer to the help file in your firewall software for instructions as we cannot give specific instructions for all setups.
If you continue to experience issues, disable your firewall temporarily or contact the company from which you purchased it for proper setup instructions.

- I installed Webshots and now it's my starting page. How do I change it back?
Setting your homepage on your browser will vary somewhat with the browser you are using. First, please go to the website you want to use as your homepage.
For Internet Explorer:
- Select Tools.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click on the Use Current Page button at the top of the Internet Options window.
- Click OK.
For Firefox, the directions are similar, except please select Options from the Tools menu. Go to the General tab.

- How do I update my email address?
To update your Webshots account information, you must be signed in to your Webshots membership at www.webshots.com. After you are signed in, go to the 'My Shots' link at the top of our website. Select the 'account' tab. Now, you can edit your email address, name, password, payment information and birthday. Click the 'apply changes' button to save any changes you make.
