Company
Background
In 1995, we started Webshots as a retail photo screensaver company, empowering computer owners to customize their blank desktops with colorful photo wallpapers and screensavers. Within a few years, Webshots had become the largest public photo sharing site, with over a million photos uploaded per day at its peak.
As photo sharing has evolved over the years, Webshots has evolved as well. Many of us have hundreds, if not thousands, of photos stored in multiple places and on multiple devices. Smile starts by gathering your photos into one place, importing from services like Instagram, Facebook and Flickr, as well as all of the devices where you store images: phones, computers, cameras.
We are two of Webshots’ original founders and we recently acquired the service from American Greetings. We’re happy to introduce the latest evolution in photo sharing: Smile by Webshots. We have two primary goals with Smile: 1) to create a single permanent library for all your photos, and 2) to allow you to share photos instantly with your closest friends and family.
We hope you’ll let us know what you think.
