Penelope was hopping mad at Jessica! Doesn't she know that Florida has no seasons? Hot, hot, hot, and hotter do not qualify. AND since Penelope is in Florida the grass is still in need of mowing. Mowing seems to be her punishment for her indiscretions of last week. How do you start a lawn mower? And where is her hat to protect her china white skin?

Autumn colors??? Penelope, as any lady of culture would, was furious that she was being forced to pose with colors that obviously clashed with her delicate pink flowers. Is this another form of punishment?

Penelope had decided that maybe some of that Autumn Florida sun shine might be good for her complexion. Penelope was happily taking in the sun by the pool with the always green palm leaves swaying in the wind...when an annoying little Marie pig came up and doused her in purple sun screen!!! Well, at least the purple did not clash with her delicate pink flowers!

This old shrub is down the street from my sister's house outside of Philadelphia. It's Latin name is Euonymus alata and is known for its vibrant color. The seeds are edible for wildlife other than humans.

Just one snapshot of the thousands and thousands of gourds for sale at this family farm in Chester County, Pa.

Yes, there is a road crossing this creek in suburban Philadelphia. Only following the heaviest storms is it closed to traffic.

I love the way they cover the ground, the feel of the soft crunching beneath my feet. The beautiful shape and rich brown color of Oak leaves is such a part of the feeling of Autumn.

Driving around Ann Arbor,on the campus of University of Michigan....it was only right that their colors were shining above us!

He caught my eye and I had to get a shot. I think I really surprised him when I stopped to take his picture!

Colors of autumn. I found this leave floating around in a fountain in Barcelona last autumn (November 2006).

Fletcher was a way station for the stage[coach] from Hawthorne, NV to Aurora, NV and Bodie, CA in the 1860's. This was during the mining boom. After the railroad was built, it became even more important because of more passengers and freight being transferred from the rail stop in Hawthorne, up over a steep pass and on to these boom towns.

While autumn is officially observed for March, April and May in the southern hemisphere, the astronomical calendar considers the season begins with the March equinox (March 21) and ends with the June solstice (June 21).I'm boring you with all that just to justify this and other entries taken in June...lol..Thing is...down here, sub-tropical, seasons change subtlety and slowly..

This is a flower farm in Northern California somewhere. They were growing fall flowers to send to us out east. It really was an amazing site.

This is on the Wilson Inlet close to the town of Denmark. A typical morning scene in early autumn with the still waters of the inlet throwing up a nice reflection of the clouds.

This would be as close as we get to the traditional northern autumn with the trees showing definite signs of losing their leaves.

Autumn colors in Florida. Palmetto trees, of course, do not change color, however, a few trees will change color anytime between November and March. This was in December - before the first day of Winter.....so it was technically still Autumn.

Autumn colours seem to be that bit earlier this year,one of the old thatched cottages at Buckland-in-the-Moor shrouded in colourful foliage,the two windows seemed to be like a pair of eyes peeping through the foliage.

The beginning of fall always marks the beginning of a new school year and the changing of the seasons.

The picturesque thatched cottages at Buckland-in-the-Moor look even more attractive with the Autumnal foliage on the trees.

As Autumn's colours come to their best the moors take on a completely different appearance.

In early Spring, one can dig the roots of the Sassafras tree and boil the roots for Sassafras Tea. I don't remember how, but my Mom used to delight us every Spring. And the Autumn colors this tree displays is beyond description.

I took the picture a few years back when on a leaf peeping Fall vacation from Florida to New Hampshire. The mountain in the background is Mt. Chocorua, just north of Ossipee, NH on Route 125.

As winter begins to rear it's ugly head in New England my sister's lone sunflower reminds everyone of a warmer summer.

This creek is near Black Diamond, Washington, southeast of Seattle. This small creek has more water in the summer. It also is one of many places where salmon come in their long journey from the Pacific Ocean to spawn and die.

This does not have fall colors, but it is a fall event, and is critical to remember. Please feel free to print this and mail it to the women in your life as a reminder to get their mammograms done. I created this card with my web site copyright, Creation Expressions.

This orchard is between Portland and Newberg, Oregon. The view is looking NNE, and when there is no haze in the distance, Mount St Helens and Mount Rainier are visible.

This photo was taken in Nova Scotia and has been one of my favorite fall photos for some time!

When Grandpa said, "Go, jump in the leaves, Fiona," she looked at him with disbelief - then did it! It was a joyous day for her!

The day was slightly overcast, but the carpet of beautiful leaves was glorious!

Bees rush to gather pollen from my poppies, which have just opened on the very last morning of summer. In full size, you can see the scattered pollen on the petals. Within a couple hours, the stamens will have dropped off and the bees will be gone.

Autumn has not yet reached the city, but here are some appropriate colors.

Like alot of people are saying on the blog, autumn is not really into full swing here in New Brunswick just yet. It will be another week or so before everything is at its prime. Luckily some of the leaves are showing their colors.

Fall is my favourite time of the year but it's also when I get very emotional: somehow, the energy changes when the leaves start falling and the air is more crispy and cool; everything just feels different. This lovely water lily was taken at the same park (Muriel Hepner, in Denville- thanks, Jane! :)) where my other 2 entries were taken. Once the Fall arrives, the swans tend to leave and much of the lake is covered in these lilies. Quite lovely!

The leaves of the wild spirea turned from green to orange. This photo was taken on October 22, 2006 (p0032). The next picture shows a wild spirea plant with pink blossoms and green leaves which I took earlier this year.

The Willamette Valley is naturally home to more evergreens, but Portland is nevertheless beautiful in the Fall.

As The Lady Washington tall ship rests quietly at sundown in the autumn glow of evening, we say goodbye for a season and wait until she returns in the spring to greet us for another summer of fun and sailing on the Pacific Northwest coastline.

This is behind the parking lot for the town hall and police department. Pretty nice, 'eh?
