On the side of the road at the "mountain of the moon" in Uganda, I saw this sweet mother and baby.Please watch at full size to see the baby's hand hugging his mom. Part of my "Uganda, Wildlife" collection.

Each year on November 1st, the Maya people in the remote vilage of "Todos Santos", celebrate All Saint day (Todos Santos) by drinking beer, and riding horses. See the story in the album.

The African Bush Elephant is the largest living terrestrial animal, normally reaching 6 to 7.3 metres (19.7 to 24.0 ft) in length and 3 to 3.5 metres (9.8 to 11.5 ft) in height at the shoulder, and weighing between 6,000 to 9,000 kg (13,000 to 20,000 lb). The largest on record, shot in Angola in 1965, was a bull weighing 12,274 kg (27,060 lb) and standing 4.2 metres (13.8 ft) high, the body of which is now mounted in the rotunda of the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.. (The museum's website states that the specimen weighs only 8 tons[4].) The Bush Elephant normally moves at a rate of 6 km/h (4 mph), but it can reach a top speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) when scared or upset. The animal is characterized by its large head; two large ears that cover its shoulders and radiate excess heat; a large and muscular trunk; two prominent tusks, which are well-developed in both sexes, although more commonly in males; a short neck; a large, barrel-like body; four long and heavy legs; and a relatively short tail. The animal is protected by a heavy but flexible layer of gray-brown skin, dotted with mostly undeveloped patches of hair and long, black hair at the tip of its tail. Its back feet have three toes that form a hoof, while the number of toes on the front feet have varied between four and five. The front is smoother and less convex than that of the Asian Elephant. The trunk is the most characteristic feature of the African Bush Elephant. It is formed by the fusion and elongation of the nose and upper lip, forming a flexible and strong organ made purely of muscle. Little scientific research has been carried out into elephants' cognitive or perceptual abilities. An exception is a recent report that African Bush Elephants are able to use seismic vibrations at infrasound frequencies for communication

this shot made me smile when I saw it at home afterwards. The proportions were a bit odd but look at the person lying on the beach, almost looks like a victim, and the guy is running away. I was at the top of the cliff and the bird was a lot closer to me than the people on the beach. Best viewed full screen for a birds 'eye'view :-)

Look close, can you see the bird chasing what I think looks like a Stingray or another bird? Perhaps a big and small bird in flight.

A comparison of one of our average size unknown seedlings with our wonderful new hybrid of Aaron's Dinner Plate crossed with Star Struck. It measures almost 9 inches across. Extra large and beautiful, what a combination.

This one is located in Ayers Natural Bridge Park in Wyoming--along Interstate 25, east of Casper.

The First Tennessee Bank across from our hotel room in Nashville was getting windows washed. We were fascinated, watching the workers defy death so far from the ground to clean the windows.

Shorter than the decking boards and with a head smaller than the head of the nails in the planks, the little lizard goes about his business on our deck.

In the Sacramento Airport the luggage was stacked to the ceiling. I have no idea how they got it up there nor how they will get it down. I just hope it never falls on the people walking around it.

I love hummingbirds and flowers...I got both in this picture...right in my own back yard!

Small people-BIG waterfall. The trail was living up to its name this day. Everyone hiking got wet. It felt pretty good since there were near record high temps for early June.

My Beagle, Lexie, with 3 baby bunnies. As Beagles go, she is not that big, but in perspective of these very small baby bunnies, she is. She's just sittin' pretty. I would like to know what she is thinking. These are the creatures she is suppose to hunt. Without my intervention, I am not quite sure what she would do. Play with them or eat them.

The only thing I dared to put so close to this snapping turtle was my crutch. It was all that was close by to compare it to.

I crested a hill to see this great scene of the guy taking a short break from his hike to gaze at the awe inspiring view of Jungfrau across the valley. His brilliant red shirt demands such attention for an otherwise insignificantly small dot. I found it to really put into perspective the size and significance of man vs nature.

Notice the two men at the foot of the stairs area. Located in the private 8,000 acre gated community where I live. The Coosawattee River Resort has the Coosawattee River flowing through the center of it with tubing and kayaking on the river. Stop by our General Store on the outside of the gate and enjoy a sandwich and drink. Then enjoy the slide and the river tubing and kayaking that is open to the public. A bus will take you into the resort to put in and pick you up and return you to the store and slide area after you have enjoyed time on the river. You will float through some beautiful areas with high cliffs and low banks. Cabin homes can be seen along the river as you go. Some you may wonder how they built the stairs down to the river from some homes.

This is just one part of the 725 feet as it cascades down the mountain. Located in the North Georgia Mountains on Highway 52. From the bridge to the top is stairs. All 425 of them. Are you ready to climb? You can follow the trail for the full 725' tumble

Really big leaves for such tiny flowers. The bugs were biting so bad that I didn't write down what I was photographing, so I don't know what this is.
