a pretty periwinkle blue butterfly hovers, trying to decide which bright orange and yellow flower to visit!

I have to admit, I really like this one. This is a portion of the Air Force Monument in DC. These abstract sculptures that tower over and view most of the city represent trails in sky and history from fighter pilots. I hope you all one day get to stand at the base of these impressive structures, it's quite an experience. "Tell them that we gave our todays for their tomorrows."

I enjoy editing photos as much as taking them. The feeling of taking something bland and putting some bam into it like Emeril is so satisfying. You can see the original of this photo in the link in the comment below

I have found out since I originally posted this photo, that it is a hot springs mound. This is a natural formation. This one is at Pinkerton Hot Springs on the side of a highway.

I noticed this little guy enjoying my herb garden.

The beautiful vibrant red burst of colour of the Bougainvillea bloom contrasts with blue of a summer day.

The overhead blue of the morning sky reflected in the pond contrasts with the surrounding green paddocks.

A glimmering burst of created colour gives this bloom vibrant petals.

Yellow tulips

Very seldom do I take a sunset or sunrise photo with the sun included. The cloud-colors just aren't as pretty--as you can see by this shot. 10-15 minutes after sunset is usually the peak color period.

Taken at the end of a day when the sky was abnormally clear and blue, all day long. If I could have that clarity every day the camera would be in use constantly.

Every year we let our pumpkins decompose in our garden, and beautiful pumpkin vines grow with lovely orange flowers. This year I have three vines and lots of flowers. They are my favorite.

the Sachs covered bridge was built between 1852 and 1854 under the direction of David Spooner from oak and pine. It is located outside of Gettysburg PA in Adams County and is part of the Gettysburg National Park. Confederates retreated over this bridge which is said to be haunted.

I got lucky and captured this most awesome firework display, looks like a white flower blossoming.

I like the way its started out white and the tips of the display were bursting with colors.

The contrasting use of primary colors and secondary/ complementary colors – Yellow & Purple, Blue & Orange, Red & Green, etc. - (Complementary colors when placed next to each other make both appear brighter.) really make the flames on this black ‘canvas’ jump out and grab your attention.

I loved this water lily I found at a local botanical garden in Vero Beach, FL. The sunlight spotlighted it perfectly for me to snap this gorgeous photo..

I literally got down on my stomach to take this shot of the hibiscus with the lighthouse in the background. I loved the rich tones in the picture, hope you will too?

Found this one abandoned in the streets in Hannover at the end of July- loved the colors and the pattern.

This foto was taken in september 2007 at the EXPOFLORA in Holambra - Brazil. Believe it or not, it is a real rose with multi colored petals. It is the creation of Peter van de Werken, a Dutch grower. All kind of natural pigmentations are administered to the stalk by full control, through which the flower, in this case a cream colored rose, changes into a beautiful play of colors. The result is absolutely stunning!

Photo taken of the swampy marsh looking west from Lordship Boulevard in Stratford, CT across from the airport.

The Masai Mara National Reserve lies about 270 kilometers from Nairobi, and takes about 4 to 5 hours by road. There are scheduled flights, twice daily from Wilson Airport Nairobi, which take about 40 - 45 minutes. The reserve is about 1510 square kilometers having been reduced from 1672 square kilometers in 1984. However, the wildlife is far from being confined within the reserve boundaries, and an even larger area, generally referred to as the "dispersal area" extends north and east of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Maasai communities live within the dispersal area with their stock but a century of close association with the wildlife has resulted in an almost symbiotic relationship where wildlife and people live in peace with one another. The first sight of this natural wonderland is breathtaking. Here the great herds of shuffling elephants browse among the rich tree-studded grasslands with an occasional sighting of a solitary and ill-tempered rhino.

I really like the way the rose contrasts with both the green leaves, and the brown leaves on the ground.

This photo was taken at Skylands Manor - the NJ Botanical gardens. I have no idea what kind of flowers these are, but they were so distinctive - because the leaves were yellowish green and the flowers were bright dark pink. never seen anything like it before. Very distinctive and contrasting compared to the other colors that were in the garden.

The Lima Lima Flight Team started with one flying club. The Mentor Flyers, Inc. was organized as a non-profit corporation in 1975. It was chartered as a 15 member flying club, based at Naper Aero Club field, Outside of Naperville, Illinois. Naper Aero is a residential airpark, with over 100 homes connected to runways via taxiways behind the homes.
