Happiness is... splashing my feet in a cool pool on a hot day....

There are exciting boat trips on the glacier lagoon that allow everyone to sail among the huge icebergs. It is really facinating!

I know the dimensions are wrong for the CC but this is one of my best unposed shots of my little girl. Please enjoy with me

The blackbirds were walking around in the water to catch bread thrown by people on the bank. On this hot day, they had food, water and a cool place to play.

Nothing says "Summer" like kicking off the shoes and enjoying the breeze on your feet.

If all else fails, get out the water guns and go after everyone you can reach. Cool and fun!!

This icicle had fallen from the roof of the house into the water frozen in my water bucket. Ice always cools us. Featured as Member's Choice in the Random Pictures section of Good Times on 8-10-10!

A wonderful way to cool off is to go swimming in the Tennessee River.

This dusting of snow not only cools us, but reminds us that winter will soon be here.

Air is fresh, sun is red and enchanting, water tepid and comfortable.

The temp was 100 plus and this Bluejay enjoyed this birdbath.

This guy was a nut! Most of the time he was jumping so high I couldn't even get him in the frame!

POTD Home & Gardens 02/19/10

This was taken on the morning of December 24th after an overnight frost. The Massanutten mountain range serves as the backdrop for this beautiful scene. The ducks didn't seem to mind the cold at all.

We had a once in a lifetime snow here in Texas this winter. 105 today, wishing for some of that cool now.

Taken 2 days after the "warmer-temp shots",the temperature had dropped into the single digits at night and the teens in the day.You can see the difference in the shots of the now-icy falls.

The slight warmth of the winter sun and gravity coax water to move ever so slowly.

Aloha Island Dreams Pa'ako Beach Makena Maui Hawai'i Copyright 2010 Sharon Mau No post processing, it is really this beautiful. Early morning light on Paako Beach, Maui Hawai'i. The island of Lana'i is visible on the distant horizon and Oneloa, also called Big Beach, Makena is in the distance on the right. The division between Big Beach and Little Beach was caused by a volcanic eruption, a lava flow and an earthquake in approximately 1790. The hill dividing the beaches is called Pu'u Olai or Earthquake Hill. The software on this site often will not allow the okina in the spelling of the name Paako, and it should appear Pa'ako. The okina signifies the break between the two a's in the pronunciation. I asked everyone I met for several years for the Hawaiian name of this beautiful beach. About two years ago at last I met a local, a sweet Hawaiian woman who was on the beach with her beautiful young keiki, her children, and she told me it is called Pa'ako. Now that I have titled my images with the name Pa'ako Beach I see many wedding planners here on Maui also are now calling it Pa'ako Beach and this pleases me, for although no has credited me with the name I know that I am the one who has made the name official. Some call this beautiful beach Secret Cove, Makena Cove and also Wedding Beach. Pa'ako Beach one of my favourite beaches on the island and you will see it featured at all times of the day and at sunset throughout my portfolio. Often at all times of day you may also see the beautiful Honu feeding on limu and rolling in the waves nearby. The best time for day shots is after 1100 as in the morning Pa'ako is cast in the shadow of the rising sun over Haleakala. Sunsets on Pa'ako are always beautiful and it is very peaceful here. We have many friends who live nearby as well and it is a beautiful view over this beach from their second floor lanai. I love the tide pools as well. It is always a good idea to wear shoes as you are walking among the tide pools. Please take care to malama the sea creatures. There are beautiful small urchins which live in the tide pools and many colourful fish as well as opihi and other creatures. This is a beautiful calm area generally for snorkeling unless the surf is up. Often you will see locals fishing as well. Aloha 'oe, thank you so much for your visit and kind notes. My mouth was watering every time I passes this vehilce outside on of our local TV stations. They must have been featuring this on the moring breakfast TV show. Hard to past a DQ without having a smartie blizzard or M&M in the States.

Look at that left side. Those black spots aren't rocks, but penguins at play. Observers, shivering from afar, are reminded that icebergs are 95% underwater! Yes, this is really, really BIG!

This was one of my early 35mm images and one which convinced me that photography was a hobbie I wanted to pursue

Pelicans fying low right above the water which is spraying up and cooling down these huge birds who are flying in formation in the early morning over Mustang Island in the Gulf of Mexico.

There are some dogs who love to play with frisbees and are actually better at it than humans are.....this dog is definately one of those dogs...He loves the water too. Running through the waves is not only fun, but keeps him cooled down from the scorching sun.

Day after our drive up the Peak taken from Woodland Park. You can just make out the road carved into the side of the mountain.

Green rosellas are endemic to Tasmania. While juvenile birds are green, mature adults are actually mainly yellow!

Had a beautiful snow last night, woke up to about 6 inches on Feb 1, 2008.

We had a beautiful snowfall last year so I quick grabbed my camera and took some wonderful shots before it left us. Snow does wonderful things to the plants and sculptures.

The cardinals are hungry and waiting on the iced over trees for me to feed them.

Romeo has a nice comfy barn, but he liked the snow and hung out in it for hours. I'm sure now that it is 100 degrees here in Dallas, Romeo is missing this snowy day. I'm missing it too! :)

In the Georgia mountains, it gets cold and ice climbing is a popular activity. It is always cold up here even it is 40 in the valley.

While it was in the high 90's in Florida on June 30th. Things were a little different on our vacation in Canada where it had snowed the night before in the mountains.

I love this! It looks so unreal in full size- like some kind of photoshop experiment, but it's just as I took it. Hope you like it!

This morning dove was under the dryer vent trying to keep warm. When the dryer was turned on again to see if it would stay there and enjoy more heat, it flew away.

These morning doves were building their nest. I assume it was the male that would bring sticks to the female so she could work them in. The male would sit on top of the female and put the sticks in front of her.

Imagine being from Florida, in Canada on June 30th. High in a ski lift, fresh snow below you,skiers and snow boarders heading down the slopes, 30F temperatures...Add the wind,no gloves and a long way down...I shiver just remembering the trip!

Some of the trees are over 2000 years old. The stream has Coho salmon in the winter. It is one of the few creeks with wild salmon and steelhead trout. A cool walk in the woods
