4 White Ibises at Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, Florida. One has it's wings spread open ready for flight.

There is a ruggedness about the central Oregon coastline that has always called to me. Hecta Head Lighthouse, standing guard over the rocky cliffs below, is one of the most photographed lighthouses on the Oregon coast.

This shot was taken from the ferry on the way from Anacortes to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. That odd, spaceship-looking cloud hovering near the mountain is called a Lenticular Cloud. They can be quite dramatic looking, especially on clear day like you see here in this picture.

There's a sense of peace and stillness that falls over the big skies of the Pacific Northwest when the sun begins to set. I've heard this time of day (Dusk) described as the time when day and night come into balance. To me, this picture conveys the calm that dusk brings when the shadows begin to settle in at the end of the day.

The sun-drenched tops stand out so much more in black and white.

Shot close to City Hall in San Francisco, used soft edges and one little dot of color!

This shot took a little doing..It was taken in an underground room under the seal pool. The room was dark so not to disturb the seals. The lighting came from the sunlight into the outdoor pool. The "rocks" in the pool formed caverns at the bottom and the seal seemed to make a circle of the pool, disappearing and then rounding the bend and swimming past the window. The timing of catching the seal and the little boy's attention to it's sudden and fleet appearance took awhile. We were captivated by the little boy's delight and hoped that his family wouldn't leave before we were able to get a shot like this.

this is in the rain forest on the big island of Hawaii. We were there for my birthday, and I just loved the look of leafy branches on leafy branches and the way the sunlight played with shadow and light, so I had to make this a black and white photo

the pattern on the rocks with the fallen flower just seemed so shadowy to begin with, so I thought it would lend itself to a nice black and white shot. So, I edited it for that b&w look and really like the result.

this just looked so amazing looking at the landscape that was moving below the plane and it just looked so truly artistic, so I had to scramble for my camera under the seat in front of me and take this picture. this naturally came out in black and white just because of the landscape and the time of day

I was taking pics in a graveyard in Ojai, CA for a college photography class Halloween project. This black cat started walking around the gravestones, perfect timing! This photo was taken of a large black and white print I made.

Please view full size. This vintage log cabin was once part of an isolated monastic community known as Nova Nada, established on the former Birchdale Lodge grounds. The monks have moved on and Birchdale is now a lodge once more, privately-owned and used as a gathering-place for artists, yoga practitioners and others seeking solitude and peace deep in the forests of Nova Scotia, far "off the grid". I took this shot during a photography retreat there. The background fence surrounds a large garden.

My granddaughter, Madison is always a ready, willing and able subject for my lens. She was excited when Mommie joined in.

The Gettysburg Valley of Death where countless men were killed during the Civil War in 1863.

In July of 1863, 160,000 Americans fought in the Battle of Gettysburg. Dead of both Union and Confederate armies littered the Gettysburg landscape for a week before all of the bodies were buried.

The cabin was buit in 1780 and Cherokee Indian, Chief White Path lived here until he was removed in a land lottery during the 1838 Gold rush. He died on the Trail of Tears when the Cherokee Indians were moved from Georgia. See my albums on Chief White Path and Gold in Georgia for more.

I could not resist posting this. Several years ago, while passing through the Azores, I snaped this shot of an Airman standing watch over their laundry.

This was taken on my lst visit to Tumacacori, Arizona. This site was lst settled by Jesuit Missionaries in 1572. The lst small church was built in 1757 and was later expanded to it's present size, dispite numerous attacks and massacres by Pima and Alpache Indians.

This picture was taken as we drove through the small town of Monticello, NM. Approximately 100 people live in this beautiful town.

This picture was taken at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. It just makes my heart swell to see my dad's service record etched in marble!

He's a hard one to get a good picture of so this was a very lucky shot!

When I took this shot, the sunlight was shining through a window, right on top of this miniature white daisy...It seemed to know it had the spotlight!!

Originally, this was a white dandilion..I negated the colors, and this was the result. I thought the black color of this furry flower made the details of it really stand out!

Small girl I met on surf trip to Samoa. Her eys were captivating. What a wonderful people the Samoans are.

Needless to say I wasn't too happy to be photographing in black and white when this moth started feeding at the butterfly bush. I would have loved to gotten color photos. The moth had a beautiful green and red color to it which would make it Hemaris thysbe - Hummingbird Clearwing moth.

Several years ago after I had completely dug up the back garden, one of these plants appeared, probably from seeds that a bird dropped. It is a beautiful plant and the ripe berries attract orioles and cedar waxwings. The plant can grow quite large although since it is very dry in the garden, it usually just grows to about 6 feet tall.

This is the second year we have had a large spider like this make its web near the house. This is still a juvenile female. She will get much larger by the end of the summer and lose the stripes on her legs.

Ephesus Turkey. I was intrigued by the fact that what lies beyond the curve will always remain a mystery. The shrubs on the foreground hillside were alive while the shrubs on the far hillside beyond the curve were dead.

Pirin National Park is a World Heritage national park that encompasses the larger part of the Pirin Mountains in the southwest of Bulgaria. The park is a home to 18 local endemic species, 15 Bulgarian and many Balkan endemic and a large quantity of preserved species, such as the Edelweiss, a symbol of Pirin.

This bee was so loaded with pollen that he literally had difficulties flying...very amusing to watch.

This shot was taken last fall of wolf creek in latchworth state park. This was one of my first photos using the long shuttered exposer settings to get the blurred water look. After this i slightly "antique" this by changing the photo to Sepia and graining the image slightly. I though it looked like a old post card afterward. Shot using the Nikon D80.

Funny how it happens - it seems like only yesterday that you heard that your nephew was born. Soon he begans smiling, crawling and walking, and his hand seemx so small in yours. And then, without getting any older yourself, you watch your nephew and his sisters grow up. And then you learn that your great-nephew was born. And on the day he turns 2 months of age, you see how small his hand is in the hand of his uncle - your now not-so-little nephew.... Here they share their first "gimme 5". May there be many more in the days and years to come!

This train came through our town of Marlow, OK for Oklahoma's 200th birthday.

This is my son, Hunter. It was the first time he had ever swam in the ocean. We were in South Carolina this summer for vacation and as you can tell, he had a blast.

This tea cup and saucer belonged to my mother and I was greatful to have inherited them from her.

This was, obviously, taken from below the saguaro's arm. The sky had clouds that reminded you of cotton candy rolled out flat.

These flowers bloom one night only. This was taken after dark outside a friend's home. It was found on a cactus that grows tall rather than spread out on the ground.

This was taken in February of this year. Snow is a rarity in Tucson. If you look closely, you can see saguaro cactus dotting the ridges. This was early morning
