Purple beauties
published by: rachel7119
The late evening sunlight illuminates the petals of the pasque flower. ~~ In the spring, the Pasque Flower is densely covered with white silky hairs that look like an old man's beard. The plant has a short stem with flowers that are cup shaped and 2 to 2 1/2 inches in size. The flowers have 5 to 8 pointed lavender sepals that resemble petals. Underneath the sepals it is very silky. As the plant matures the stem elongates to about 14". The flower grows heavy and droops downward. There is a very noticeable circle of bracts around the stem below the flower. When the very narrowly divided basal leaves first appear, they are purplish in color. ~~ The Pasque Flower is just as beautiful in seed, as it is in bloom. It looks like it has been given an electrical shock and is having a very bad hair day. - IMG_0792

Fascinating bloodroots - macro
published by: marionw104102
Bloodroots are wildflowers. When I think they might start to emerge, I look very carefully for their little tips; these grow just a little. Then a curled up leaf appears which protects the blossom. Next time the sun shines, a single white flower opens up in all its beauty, rising above the lobed leaf. Their roots yield a reddish juice, which probably gave the plant its name. This macro shows the beauty of the blossoms and the texture of the leave, just love it. (p0641-425k)

Arab physicians considered it “the treasure of drugs†as it had therapeutic uses, particularly as a remedy for blood disorders, digestive ailments and reproductive problems. (by Robert W. Lebling Jr.)

As I was mowing, I found three which I mowed around and then went back, dug them up, and transplanted in one of our woodland flower beds. They are very dear to me. Joan

California wild poppies

California Indians cherished the poppy as both a source of food and for oil extracted from the plant. Its botanical name, Eschsholtzia californica, was given by Adelbert Von Chamisso, a naturalist and member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences, who dropped anchor in San Francisco in 1816 in a bay surrounded by hills of the golden flowers. Image captured on the path down to Pt. Bonita lighthouse.

after spring showers (greetings from Germany!)
published by: worldtripper3
Dear Friends. I've been home in Germany visiting for more than a month now and yes, Spring has finally sprung here also. After experiencing Texas springtime in early February, what a joy to witness it here all over again. I have very little internet access and won't be back until late June. So sorry I haven't been able to respond to your messages. Take care and hugs. Marita

The beauty of Spring. (picture taken in my backyard)

Spring represents profound inspiration and joyful anticipation for renewed life, and hope. Spring's arrival awakens our senses with the abundance of Mother Nature's beauty opening to the warmth of the sun. Who could not be spiritually inspired when Spring finally arrives?

Ah Sunflower

Ah Sunflower, weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the sun;
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the traveller's journey is done;
Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale virgin shrouded in snow,
Arise from their graves, and aspire
Where my Sunflower wishes to go!

Trillium
published by: grma_of6
Sometimes called "Wake Robin" because they appear about the same time that Robins return from winter migration. The name Trillium was given to this plant because all of its parts come in groups of 3. Trillium ovatum can be recognized by its large (up to 5 cm or 3 inches) three white petals, three sepals (small green leaves under the petals) which rise on a stem above three large green leaves (which measure 15 cm or 6 inches). The white petals change to pink as they age.

Beauty is Eternally Free ~ Hamoa Beach Maui Hawai'i
published by: ourjrny
"Hidden behind the veil of mystery, Beauty is eternally free from the slightest stain of imperfection. From the atoms of the world, He created a multitude of mirrors; into each one of them He cast the image of His Face; To the awakened eye, anything that appears beautiful is only a reflection of that Face. Now that you have seen the reflection, hurry to its Source; In that primordial Light the reflection vanishes completely. Do not linger far from that primal Source; When the reflection fades, you will be lost in darkness. The reflection is as transient as the smile of a rose; If you want permanence, turn towards the Source; If you want fidelity, look to the Mine of faithfulness. Why tear your soul apart over something here one moment and gone the next?" by Jami ~ Translation by Andrew Harvey and Eryk Hanut
