Ramat Hanadiv includes a Nature Park offering visitors several hiking trails. On Monday I hiked in the Manor Trail. The highlight of this trail is Horvat Aqav: a Second Temple period Jewish manor house which was abandoned at the time of the Jewish Revolt against Rome (66-70 CE) and rebuilt as a Byzantine villa in the fifth century.

The first thing I wanted to visit while on a recent weekend get-away is the Thomas Kincaid Art Gallery being my other hobby besides photography is painting and also visiting other Art Galleries, Carmel being the Artist Capital of California:) The setting for me of this Art Gallery is very picturesque with the eye leading along the small fence on the right then onto the path that leads you into the door in the middle of the photo and into the gallery.Shot this with my Canon PowerShot S70

This is a pic of an abandoned dungeon once used for Coast Guard purposes. I was unable to see through it's gated & locked steel door because of the extreme darkness but when I put the lense of my camera between the very tiny openings and the flash went off, I was able to capture the view inside. The tiny gate hole to my surprise became a much larger looking frame for the photo.

This is a pic of my cat Sylvester hiding behind the trees to take a peek at the new girl cat on the block..after viewing the photo I noticed the trees seemed to frame his face.

My Dad sent me through college to save me from, what he considered, the worrisome life of a farmer; many things are beyond your control. This photo was taken in 1963, after I had graduated, married, and left home to pursue an engineering career.

I love this old photo. I recently copied it from a color slide.

This is probably THE BEST place to take sunset photographs on Oahu. The resort is still under heavy constuction; however, the shoreline is beyond reproach. It is absolutely beautifully landscaped. Ten years from now, when the construction is finally completed, tourists will probably forget all about staying in Waikiki and be coming out here instead.

It was a foggy, cloudy day, but the clouds parted for a little while and the mountain-top just became visible.

After a long winter, it is wonderful to go for a drive through Vermont's Green Mountains. I liked how the branches of old Maple trees framed this scenic photo. I thought it kind of funny to capture Greenpeace ship Sirius with one of the most polluted ships in Europe, the Otapan, filled with asbestus.

This is an elevatorshaft in a tower in Akita, Japan, made out of glass and steel mostly. It's kinda complicated, I don't understand it myself.

On a cold December morning in freezing rain, Tim tells us to follow him to his cousins farm to continue the pheasant hunt.

One of my favorite places to photograph is just off my back yard in Dunham Park. From every angle the foot bridge over Skunk Creek adds a unique touch to every photograph.

The legends of many cultures see the rainbow as a kind of bridge between heaven and earth. One of the most beautiful sights in nature, the rainbow has become in western culture a symbol of renewed hope; something lucky to look upon. To Iranian Moslems, even the brilliance of the colors in a rainbow have significance. A prominent green means abundance, red means war, and yellow brings death. The Arawak Indians of South America recognize the rainbow as a fortunate sign if it seen over the ocean, while tribes in northeastern Siberia see it as the tongue of the sun. The North American Catawba Indians of the Southeast and the Tlingit of the Northwest both regard it as the bridge between the living and the dead.

While this photo doesn't cotntain the full flower, in my eyes it conveys it's beauty by concentrating on its important details...

Cades Cove is my favorite part of the Smokies. If you notice the dots in the photo, go full size and you can make it out a little better - they are deer!

'Alau Island, viewed from Koki Beach. The waves were crashing...larger than usual. Some were breaking at 40' plus. The view from this point was stunning! In fact, this is our favorite picture from our trip.

There is some type of small building that was used for geological studies up at Glacier Point. Most people pose for photos in front of Half Dome on the patio outside the window. I preferred to get a window view of Half Dome itself.

This creek is partly spring fed; made for a perfect picture on a horseback outing.

I was on my deck in the morning a short time ago as the sun was rising. This beautiful vision lasted less than 1 minute and I have not seen it occur again since! The sun's rays were reflecting off of this tree so brilliantly. It was such an amazing sight to see in person.

When my son and I visited the waterfront a short time ago this friendly dog came to greet us as we approached the water's edge. I thought the blue water in the background and the large rocks leading into the center framed the dog nicely.

Glacier National Park Is A Beautiful Park Not Often Visited By The Obundence Of Tourists As Some Of The More Popular National Parks..But This Is A Must See For Anyone Visiting The Montana Area..There Are Acres and Acres Of The Most Eye Catching Sights Seen By The Human Eye.

Too this picture from inside the resturant we were having lunch at. Even though the food wasn't all that good...the view more than made up for it.

At the northernmost corner of the Polynesian triangle, the Hawaiian Islands stand as a sentry for a collection of atolls, volcanic remnants, coral blocks and large islands that punctuate the region stretching to Aotearoa (New Zealand) in the south and Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in the east. Hawai‘i is the newest landmass in Polynesia and the most isolated settled area on the globe, rife with unique ecosystems. Maui, sitting in the middle of the main Hawaiian island chain, is a geological youngster. Haleakala, still volcanically active in the 18th century and now dormant, rises higher than 10,000 feet on the eastern end of the island. The older and more eroded West Maui Mountains are 1.3 million years old. The tallest point at Pu‘u Kukui - 5,788 feet - is one of the rainiest spots on earth. Ka‘anapali sits in the leeward side of these mountains, on the slopes facing Lana‘i and Moloka‘i.

This album is about raising a birth defected/crippled baby Blue and Gold Macaw. TickleTwo was born (hatched) on the same day that our family was returning to our home after our daughter, Christina Nichole, was released from the hospitals in Spokane WA following her amazing coma recovery in 2004. She was still in out-patient rehabilitation therapy for the years ahead. On our 3 hour drive home the cell phone rang and it was a friend who breeds exotic birds, as I had for over 25 years. I retired from bird breeding in 1996. She had not heard about Christina's coma yet, or she might not have called. She was having her own health crisis and was also addicted to several life-threatening habits. She was crying and asking if I would take her just-hatched Blue & Gold Macaw baby. It was born with one leg straight up in the air. It had one wing on the same side that also went straight up and over the back of it's neck. She felt that she could not deal with trying to raise this baby, the probable surgeries it would require, and tendency to die at any second. At first I thought, "I can't take on this enormous responsiblity and time-consuming efforts right now either... I have Christina to take care of around the clock." As I started to explain the situation to my friend she was so shocked and upset about what had happened to Chrissy that it added to her own stress and feelings of being overwhelmed and distraught. She said she was going to put it to sleep. During this conversation I felt as if God was telling me to take the crippled baby... so as crazy as it seemed at that time, I followed His Urging. We stopped by her house on our way home and found my friend in very bad condition. I decided to take her tiny baby Parakeet home with us as well to lighten her load as much as possible. As it turned out, Tickletwo and the Parakeet were perfect rehabilitation therapies for Christina! She worked with me to raise them and they fulfilled many, many needs she had at that time in her recovery efforts. I did not hear from my friend again for over two years. When she finally contacted me via email, she said that night at her house had changed her life. She stopped over 40 years of addictions cold turkey that same night after we left. Praise God! TickleTwo grew with daily physical therapy and Chiropractic manipulations. My husband of 42 years is our family Doctor of Chiropractic for which we are always thankful and which came in very handy while raising TickleTwo. The Vet monitored TickleTwo's progress and never opted for surgery because she overcame most of her disabilities far better than he ever dreamed possible as time went along. She still has one straight leg with crooked toes, but in the downward position and it works fine for her whenever she is holding her food and eating, hanging upside down, or climbing her cage bars. Walking is very difficult for her, but she manages. Her wing grew into a downward laying position but it is still crippled enough that she cannot fly. When she tries she flies in low circles for very short trips. She is 100% happy, cuddly, loving, playful, and intelligent though. She talks up a storm! Who could ask for more? God worked so many wonderful outcomes into our lives through TickleTwo. I never had a clue that it would turn out so amazing for everyone, including TickleTwo! Blessings, Judy

In Ravenna the popular gathering place of the city is this plaza where people enjoy drinks or food in the al fresco cafes or just strolling around to see or be seen. The piazza is framed here by an arched passageway which can be commonly found in older Italian cities.

The village of Pescallo on the opposite side of the peninsula from Bellagio, and the Italian-Swiss alps beyond are framed by trees from the gardens of Villa Cipressi

I've never gotten shots of these ice blue flowers that are the Texas state flower, in the 20 years we've lived here. Today was the day!

The Lady Lex was, at one time, the premier carrier in our fleet. She still proudly looms above the ocean, as a museum lovingly cared for by hundreds of exmilitary volunteers and civies from around Texas. You can almost hear the history as you wander the decks, dining room, bunks, and captain's quarters.

The Germans Knights began to build the fortress , follwing internal conflicts between themselves and the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller, it was imperative for the Teutonoc Knights to leave Acre for a separate headquaters, and the property ( on which the MONFORT was soon to be built) was a natural choice.

This is a raised planter in the Childrens' Garden. The door is a peephole in the side. You may also look down at the display through the open top. The "garden" is planted with tiny plants and miniature hardscapes.

This very nearly won a ribbon at my last competition. I kind of like how the two outer trees frame the center tree; the deck fence frames the table; and, to some degree, the mountains frame the lake. Hope you like it!

I like the way that the vase frames the rose, and then the pastel colors in the background seem to coincide with the colors in the flower.

The arches on the right and the left "frame" the rest of the picture.

I like the way that the empty crosses, (signifying the risen Christ) "frame" the "crucified Christ" in the center.

At Mayfield Greenhouse, Gore Farm, outside St. Stephen, N.B. These two young ones left their nest shortly after this photo was taken. I suspect it was time to fend for themselves and see the world.

Always a joy to watch them and one can hear them from far away!

This beautiful dove had build her nest in a young tree in front of our school, and I was lucky enough to see the young one hatch from the egg.

The Anacortes ferry boats run up to the San Juan Islands and Victoria, BC. This was a beautiful sight on a trail that runs along the beach next to the terminal.

American Manila Cemetary in Tagiug (Fort Bonafacio) Philippines. The red tree is called a Fire Tree and it only blooms red approximatly two weeks out of the year.

I think taking photos of Trees against the Sky for me makes a very interesting shot!I captured this in late Winter here in Northern California on a beautiful clear day.

This pumpkin actually grew this way, I have some other angles...and it didnt change the taste at all.

Framed by a wood fence, walkway, and autumn leaves, Maramec Spring is the fifth largest Spring in the State of Missouri with an average daily flow of around a hundred million gallons of water. We could see trout below the surface of the spring water. Best viewed in full size to see more details! P1190890

bologna, italy: 'la torre degli asinelli' (literally, the tower of the little donkeys). i just love this shot, the bird on the forefront, the beautiful palace on the background. have you seen the coins on the window sill? tourists leave them there hoping they'll bring them luck.

i took this pic at Euroflora '06. this is a huge manifestation, and it take place in my city, Genova, every four years. They show flowers and plants and trees from every part of the world, usually trying to recreate the country from where the flowers come from. like this old and magnificent bonsai, set in a japanese temple.

I thought she had gorgeous eyes, look closely at the eyes, tell me what you see!! What a way to greet people!!

Frame! I think its frame and you?

I was taking photos in one of our yards and noticed this heart shaped frame in the bushes. How cool!! Nature loves giving us little suprises now and then.

The unlikely named township of Walkaway lies between the West Australian mid west coastal towns of Dongara and Geraldton, about 360 kns from us. My three for this week are all black and whites, having been taken as colour shots and transferred in Photoshop's colour mixer. I notice that once you work on a photo in this way the date the picture was taken does not show up - very strange!

One of only three climbing trees in the state this was originally a fire lookout that took it's name following a visit by the then Duke of Gloucester in the late 1930's. It stands over 60 metres high and over a million people have chanced their luck and climbed to the top.

Another beautiful beach on Geographe Bay, conveniently close to Dunsborough.

I had the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. on a layover for eight hours. The US. Capitol was one of my stops. This is of the US Capitol building looking across the front lawn.

My family took a day trip to Carlsbad Caverns over Christmas, and I enjoyed trying to capture some of the beauty of this subterranean world.

I have not modified the color of the leaves of the tree. They truly were fluourescent orange! These trees are on the Microsoft corporate campus in Redmond, Washington. I didn't know of this gap in the trees, but the only open parking place was directly in front of it.

This lighthouse is on San Juan Island in Washington state. Lime Kilm State Park is one of the best places to watch for Orca whales. This view of the lighthouse is framed by Madrona trees, which shed their bark instead of their leaves.

Traditions Museum

Shot in August, 2003 at the International Kite Festival (now the Washington State Kite Festival) in Long Beach, Washington. One visually fascinating part of the festival were giant windsocks. These had so much pull, they had to be anchored to an SUV parked on the beach.

This street scene in colourful old San Juan caught my attention because the sidewalls direct your attention down toward the blue wall.
