Laverne's Marbles

The marbles have a sad story. The oldest, most beautiful, and most chipped belonged to my great uncle Laverne. Almost 100 years ago, he graduated from high school, carefully packed them away and went off to fight in the first World War. Like so many other boys, he never returned.

This dinner was held at a restaurant in Borenore NSW, about 15 mins from Orange. It was an old school and church called "The Old Convent. The room was lit only by candlelight which made wonderful patterns on the walls and reflected also with the mirrorball on the ceiling...and the food here was also delicious!

I love glass, I love reflections and what you can see thru the glass that no one else see's. I love how the reflection looks different, in the glass the other way around! If I cant find a reflection, then I make some with different photo programs. This was taken at a restaurant in Orange NSW called 'The Rocking Horse'. It was an old corner shop and then s lolly shop for many years. We were seated on the old closed in verhanda.

Glass strings inside a glass ball art piece - 5th place - See these full size.

The strings of glass are created by collapsing the glass ball and then blowing it up again what sticks to the top and bottom becomes strings of glass in random shapes. I have an entire glass album. The ball is multicolored and I wanted to use that for the back ground and show the suspended glass inside.
