Golden hour is a really lucky hour for a photographer! Charles bridge is always overcrowded especially at a sunset. But in the early morning it is so clear! Welcome to my NEW album "Dawn in Prague"!

It's easy enought to shot sunrises and we all have Gygabytes of them :) Here is the early morning in Prague and the firat sighn of a rising sun!

The canal was literally a man-made river. To make the canal work a complex system of hydrology was constructed. To supply water for the canal seven feeder dams were built on the Potomac River from Cumberland to Little Falls. To control the water, seventy-four lift locks were placed in the canal. Each lock raised or lowered a boat approximately eight feet. The locks allowed boats to travel upstream or downstream and made it possible to overcome the elevation difference of 605 feet between Georgetown and Cumberland

The Yaquina Head Lighthouse at Newport Oregon. We spent a few days in Newport in the summer of 2007 and one morning I showed up at the lighthouse, camera in hand at just the perfect time.

this was taken about an hour before sunset, after spending a gorgeous day in Mt. Rainier National Park. Enumclaw is a town just north of Mt. Rainier. You pass through it on the way to the park.

I had waited four days for this to happen, we'd been on a winter break to Mt Maunganui, the first three days had clear blue sky's and no waves, the fourth day saw the weather turn and on the fifth morning this happened. It was monumental and that's why I have called it my visual 1812 overture, the sunrise lasted an hour, it just kept getting bigger and bigger till it just exploded into colour and faster that it arrived it died and we had rain all day. right time right place and I was there to capture it and preserve it forever, this is my best work yet. This was monumental, found my self having to run down the beach to get the next break in the light, it lasted an hour and felt like ten minutes and when it was gone i new I had seen and captured something divine! This album makes me feel very humble.

Baker Beach is one of the most popular beaches in San Francisco. Unlike windy Ocean Beach, Baker Beach is more protected, and smooth sand makes it a favorite place for San Francisco locals to visit. This shot was taken at night, around 8:00pm.

The tiny village of Passu, on the Karakoram Highway in remote Gojal(Upper Hunza) sits on the Hunza River, surrounded by the spectacular spires of the "Cathedrals". These are 6-7000m high.This is close to China and Afghanistan.My favourite place.

This is one of my favorite photos. I loved the red lifeguard chairs on Second Beach, and this day when we lingered as the sun began to set, I loved the look of the empty chair and the golden sky behind it as the sun dipped down. It captures the sadness and yet the beauty of the end of a summer day.

In January on a winter sunset sky which is often peach or pink, I stopped by a lake in our town and found it frozen. The sunset reflected on the ice and made a beautiful soft reflection. I love the contrast of the summer gear laying on the cold white sand and the frozen lake as well.

Day's End . . .

The perfect way to welcome in the dawn is drifting high up on warm air currents over the Namib Desert.

It's that "special" moment, that heralds that twilight is drawing near, when the light conditions are so perfect and the harsh shadows and colours of the daylight hours quickly start to soften and take on a reddish hue. Disturbed airborne desert dust gently settles out on to the ground, after another hot day near Sesriem in Namibia.

The Blue fish were really churning of the water on the Branford river. They are a great fighting fish, but watch you fingers when you try to unhook them.

The ocean roars with all the power of its strength as evening descends. Mist, appearing as fine as gold dust, adds a magical element to the majestic view before me. No matter how often I stand at this spot, I continue to be amazed at all this beauty before me. Captured at Cox Bay, on Vancouver Island's magnificent Pacific West Coast one evening in April 2008 and posted unedited. It is simply this beautiful.

As the sun was setting, the field, which was covered with dandelions, was lit up by this awsome light and the flowers suddenly looked like they were on fire.

On the Adriatic Sea, the Dalmation Coast city of Dubrovnik, Croatia is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This image was shot in early morning light from the top of a nearby mountain.

I tried to capture the mystery of Mexico, and especially the Mayan monuments, with this capture.

I'm not certain who enjoyed the view more.

Waialua is an old sugar mill town. The sugar mill has long since closed down for sugar production. It is now occupied by trendy tourist shops including the North Shore Soap Factory. That is cloud capped Mount Ka'ala, part of the Waianae Range, in the background. The shot was taken across Kai'aka Bay from the waterfront at Kai'aka State Park.

Nestled high above Lanikai Beach are some World War Two coastal defense bunkers. The one located on the pinnacle to the left has a much better view of the coast. If you zoom in on the photograph, you will notice several people perched on top of them. They braved the pre-dawn hike up the rugged trail for a first rate view of the rising sun. Check out my other album "O'ahu sunrises, sunsets and assorted pa'i ki'i" to see some pretty amazing photographs that I took from up there earlier in the year.

Suzhou has a history stretching back over two milleniums and is considered one of the oldest towns in the Yangzi River Basin. During the Qin dynasty (221-206 BCE), it was a town in the Wu state and was then known as Wuxian. However, after the conquest of Southern China by the Sui dynasty, it was made a prefecture and named Suzhou. With the completion of the Grand Canal in 609 CE, Suzhou grew rapidly in commerce and trade. There was abundant rice grown around Suzhou during the Tang and Song dynasty (618-1279 CE). Suzhou merited a saying "When Suzhou produces everyone has enough".

There are over 2000 pagodas, big and smal in Bagan. The building of pagodas in Mon style was started by king Anawratha in the 11th century and continued till the 13th century. To be among them is a unique experience.

To take in the whole herd, it took seven photos from one side to the other. This part was almost in silhouette against the sun going down.

On A Trip to Tver, Russia, we were lucky enough to experience what they call the White Nights, this beautiful passenger ship was traveling up the Volga River during this time,when the nights are white with a golden tone to the sky & you can enjoy a piece of day light well into the early morning.

The Wash is the largest estuary in England. Three rivers from a very flat area carry a lot of mud down to it. Huge quantities of wildlife are attracted by the rich feeding area.

This seaweed is attached to rocks in The St. Croix River. At high tide the sea advances all the way up to St. Stephen, N.B. about ten miles away from Bayside where this photo was taken.

The morning sun, not quite up in the Eastern Sky gets a nice warm welcome from 100 balloons which dot the skyline ahead of it. Louisville Derby celebration features lots of events like this one!

The magic hour lighting makes the rocks at the Garden of the Gods really stand out.

We didn't want to get up at 2:30 am to drive to the top, and watch the sunrise, so we waited for the SUNSET at the top of the mountain instead. This observatory just called out to me - to be photographed and added to my sunset photo. The Sun had gone down 40 min ago, but the twilight sky was still remarkable. Putting the observatory in the photo gave it a sense of scale.

One time when visiting Ringwood Manor in Ringwood State Park we stayed to watch the sunset come down over the lake and hit the property. I tried to capture the beauty of the sunset as the sun shone into and reflected off the solarium windows.

It is well into summer. The days are getting shorter, and the lupine blossoms are long gone, now replaced by bulging seed pods. The sinking sun ahead in the far west creates a soft glow on the grasses and plants, illuminating the lupines, even though they are well past their prime. Life is full of the many simple moments that become special times. l do not know who this is but he was fishing at various spots on the beach and didn't mind me taking his photograph. He asked if he was getting in the way of my sunset shots but I told him he was adding just the interest I needed in the reflection. He caught a number of large fish during the hour I was there and said that I had brought him good luck. This is one of my favourite shots for that night of memorable everchanging colour. Golden hour.

We spent the weekend with very special freinds at Normanville South Australia. A cold wet and windy weekend but still a magic Winter Sunset. This was the beautiful colour and light just after sun had set.. the golden hour.
