In this scene, everyone is enjoying a wild ride on the whitewater of the Ocoee River. Some try to ride the bronc and see if they can stay on through the hell Hole on the Ocoee. Most never make it, but they keep trying.

Kayak the Coosawattee River in Ellijay, GA. Class 1 and 2 water. He is taking advantage of a quiet spot on the Coosawattee River where I live and work putting kayaks and tubes on the river and pick them up. Open to the public by busing them into the private, Coosawattee River Resort.

The waterfall Barnafoss is in River Skjalfandafljot near the abandoned farm Barnafell in Ljosavatn County. There the river runs in a narrow, and close to 100 m deep canyon.

Looking for those "picnic baskets!" And no...this is not our gear...yet!

Summer is the best time to take a vacation, especially to new places where you can visit unusual historic landmarks, like the Jamestown Windmill in Rhode Island. Jamestown is situated almost entirely on Conanicut Island, the second largest island in Narragansett Bay. This windmill was first built in 1727, but destroyed during the USA revolutionary war during British occupation. This present windmill was rebuilt after the war in 1787.

Summer is a time to go sailing on the ocean blue. The best experience I have had sailing was in August 2007 on Narragansett Bay, Newport, Rhode Island. There is no feeling like the peace and joy of summer breezes as you glide along the glassy water.

To us "townies" it was a beautiful hot dry summer..but to the farmer it was a very different story.

Grassy fields, a single tree and plenty of sun, a great way to spend the summer!

There is one yellow rose that shows up every year from an old rose bush.

There is no such thing as being to old to play in the sand. My mother and I made this, and we are both very much grown up. We enjoyed the heck out of it, laughing like kids the entire afternoon. I recommend playing in the sand to anyone who needs to get away from the ordinary world for a while.

Last summer school holidays three boys raced past me on the beach, their bodyboards on their backs, catching waves on their mind; they were about some serious summer fun.

During a summer heatwave, I came across this family at a local beach. They'd taken up a spot on the beach about where the waves turned back. Thus they had water lapping over them while there was no exertion of their part. They agreed to be photographed.

The squirrel climbed all the way to the top, and then turned upside down to try to reach the bird feeder. I think he has done this before.

Taken at Salem Willows Park. This photo was a little boring (to me anyway) until I decided to play around with the Topaz Adjust filters, a plug-in for photo editing software. This was shot at the annual mud volleyball tournament put on each year in Muskogee, to raise money and awareness for W.I.S.H. (Women In Safe Home) and M.C.C.O.Y. (Muskogee County Council of Youth). It looked to be a success, but more it was a real summer kick off to coat up in mud and then since it was at the Three Forks Harbor go jump in between matches to clean up. There was bands and plenty to rehydrate on there.

Plenty of caraway and buttercups. I was losing light fast on a late overcast evening, but the buttercups helped to brighten up the scene.

At Island View Campground, about halfway between St. Stephen and St. Andrews. The tide from the Bay of Fundy was starting to advance up the St. Croix river.

What I liked about this composition was the cloud line together with the fence line. This image was captured shortly after the other summer scene entered this week.

I'm not certain who enjoyed the view more.

I have this hanging on the wall of my office so that even in the dark days of winter I can see where I will spend June, July and August.
