Polar bears get dangerously close to humans in the Churchill, Manitoba area. If a bear gets into town, he is being put in "Bear Jail". Once in a while, the bears are being sedated, and transferd via helicopters back into the wild. Read about it in my "Flying Polar Bears" album

I was so lucky to have caught this shot from nearly right underneath him. It startled me that he took flight (although I was hoping he would) but I turned quickly and shot...this is right from the camera and not cropped at all...YES, I CONSIDER MYSELF VERY LUCKY.

The double rainbow appeared after a stormy morning. We could see both ends and the whole arch of both bows, but they were too wide to be photographed from our vantage point.

It seems the trees touch the sky. Muir Woods National Monument is a remnant of ancient coast redwood forests of Northern California. Many are over 600 years old. Coast Redwoods are the tallest living thing on earth. Located just North of the Golden gate bridge.

A sun dog or sundog (scientific name parhelion, for "beside the sun") is a common bright circular spot on a solar halo. It is an atmospheric optical phenomenon primarily associated with the reflection or refraction of sunlight by small ice crystals making up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. Frontier Airlines features a different animal on tails and winglets of all their planes. We flew out to Denver with polar cubs, Klondike & Snow, and returned with Larry the Lynx.

glowing in the night sky, sailed out of sight, without making a sound! 30 people witnessed this event, with me. cameras were snapping. it came and went 4 times, in a large circle around the area. after the 4th time a helicopter came, I don't know if it was to investigate it or not, but the UFO did not return after that. Interesting!

Fireworks for 2010 in Ellijay, GA

At last a full view. the lowest angle of the the sun to the horizon was 17.5 degrees at 00.45am. True midnight by the sun, not the ships clock. It then starts to rise again.

Just for a moment the Midnight sun (it really was midnight) popped out of the clouds on the way to Spitzbergen & a narrow beam of sunlight produced the small straight line rainbow in upper right of photo (best seen full size)

When I look toward the clouds I see the lizard climbing the Blue Rock. The Rock of the Lizard is surounded by the green of the brazilian Atlantic Forest. I love this place!

Spent the weekend flying kites with my Grandson Jack!

Picacho Peak State Park/Arizona. Because of a wet winter, this saguaro is well hydrated/filled out. In order to get this picture & because of the size of the saguaro, I had to lean almost over backward & use the close up feature on the lens.

You can get a sense of the height of saguaros from this picture. Catalina State Park

These silencers along the highway do not only keep the sound from the highway low, they also reflect the sky with the weather on the opposite site and themselves - sometimes in a magical way.
