Have always looked at aspen trunks and imagined them to have "eyes" where limbs at one time or another have grown. All aspens have these spots on their trunks. I decided to add an eye in photoshop to match my imagination.

The Coosawatttee is one of my favorite places to walk along and take photos as I enjoy the peace and quite with only the sounds of nature. Three minutes from my home up on the ridge. A private community of over 8,000 acres and nothing but cabin homes and no business

As I drove up from the river to head home, I glanced through the trees at this cabin on the next ridge and had to stop and take a photo. How would you like to live on that ridge with the mountains on one side and the Coosawattee river valley on the other side. VIEW ME FULL SIZE

This picture was taken at the village of Sirigu, Upper East Region, Ghana. The picture shows the traditional houses of Frafra people.

Jacopo Dondi's clock - Jacopo Dondi (1290 – 1359), was a scholar and doctor, and graduated from the University of Padua. He also supervised the construction of a large public clock with a dial, commissioned by Prince Ubertino of Carrara. He may also have contributed to its design. The clock was installed in the tower of the Palazzo Capitaniato, Padua, in 1344. It indicated and struck the hours from 1 to 24, and it also displayed the age and phase of the moon and the place of the sun in the zodiac. Both tower and clock were destroyed in 1390 and the clock shown in this picture is the perfect copy of the original and was installed in 1437.

The Spanish architect Santiage Calatrava's Samuel Beckett Bridge was officially inaugurated in Dublin on Dec. 10 2009. It unites the North and South sides of the River Liffey. Features four lanes, two for traffic, with cycle tracks, and pedestrain paths on either side. Leaning building on the left, is Dublin's Convention Center.

On Family Day, a holiday in February granted to us by a previous premier of Alberta,I get together with friends for a potluck and tobogganing down a homemade run. It is so much fun and brings out the kid in all of us!

It was a beautiful sunny day north- east of Edmonton and while driving down the highway I spotted this Sikh temple. I pulled over right away and stopped to take a few photos.

I was visiting at a friend's home and took time to shoot some photos of her orchids. It was a pleasant respite from the cold winter day.

Ardi came trotting out to visit, bounced back toward the barn and came back, looking to play.

Looking back through a gate of the town of Beaumont-du-Perigord (Perigord pourpre / Purple Perigord, Dordogne, in southwestern France), on a partly sunny afternoon at the end of May. This 13th-century bastide -- planned fortified town -- was originally founded in 1272 by the English, who occupied parts of Aquitaine during the period. The River Wye at Chepstow (Monmouthshire, southeastern Wales), with the tide partly out, on a late afternoon at the beginning of October. For several miles before it flows into the Severn Estuary, the Wye itself is estuarine. The houses above the limestone bluff are in Gloucestershire, England. This photo, taken at Muriel Hepner Park in Denville, won first place at my local camera club competition on 3/26/07! The judge talked about how the lighting and silhouettes set the mood so perfectly. Rule of thirds - in this case, actually of 9's - in a portrait: Central object tin the center of a 9-square layout. Used the ski-lift pylons as natural boundaries for framing the subjects.

Rule of thirds used in an action shot of a crashing snowboards; made sure I kept the hapless boarder in the center (vertically) while keeping him in the left third to allow for some sun in the rightmost third. this was done to add some dynamism to the shot.

Black sky, lit gate and the reflections of the gate in a pond made for nicely laid out symmetrical thirds in this shot.
