Looking down into the Coosawattee River reflection to look up at the Fife Bridge
published by: police370
Reminds of of a Claude Monet painting. No distortion filters applied. It's the water reflection I captured with the camera. I tried to shoot straight up but had to process as an HDR because the sky was too light or the bridge to dark depending on the exposure settings. So. I pointed the camera down and got this. NOT HDR as someone thought. Just a single image. The next entry is the looking up in HDR followed by the three images to make it.

It is obvious I could never have looked through the view finder to take this one. I leaned way out again, held my camera out as far as I could and took the photo so I could get a view of the huge dam and the tiny street below.

Monksville-dam-spillover3 - now that is steep!
published by: shivonnejean
I gave my mother a heart attack taking these shots. We were across the road which runs right over the dam [and where you are not supposed to walk to stand] and the dam is built so when you stand against the guardrail you can see the beautiful scenery but not the dam, as it is in and under you. so I leaned WAY out and turned my camera towards the dam and took these shots.

The Park Theatre
published by: TeriWall
This is the Park Theatre in Estes Park. Kind of ominous looking, especially with whats on the marquee. Taken with a Kodak Z650 EasyShare Digital Camera.
This building is 98 yrs old & was Built in 1913, the Historic Park Theatre is the oldest theatre west of the Mississippi River built as a motion picture theatre that is still operating Film Productions.
The Park Theatre was constructed by J.L. Jackson in 1913. It was completed by C.H. Bond in 1914/15. Bond sold the building to Fred Jackson, who operated the theatre untill 1922 when he sold it to Ralph Gwynn. Gwynn added the landmark tower. This tower is termed the ?Tower of Love?, because Gwynn built it representing the beautiful love of his life. Gwynn operated the theatre until his death. The theatre has been operated since 1968 by long time locals Ola and Richard Stanger. The Stangers purchased the theatre in 1982 from Vic Walker and saved it from demolition, by having the theatre placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The Stangers along with the citizens of Estes Park also saved the neon lights on the tower by getting a variance passed that allowed the lights to burn in the town of Estes. After the Lawn Lake flood of 1982 Estes Park added a new sign code that banned all neon signs in Estes Park. The citizens of Estes Park decided that the tower should be able to keep the lights burning with a town vote that said the lights on the tower are not a sign. But it is where you might hear Hazel Baldwin still playing the piano to accompany the silent movies.

The Bombs Bursting In Air.....

THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER
Oh say can you see by the dawn?s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight?s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O?er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets? red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there;
Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O?er the land of the free and the home of the brave
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe?s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o?er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses
Now it catches the gleam of the morning?s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
?Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O?er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle?s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps? pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O?er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war?s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav?n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: ?In God is our trust.?
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O?er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
