Sandy beach at the lake kept Kiptyn amused for hours. Waves from boats kept him and the sand wet. He only put sand in his mouth once and quickly learned that he didn't like it.

Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, Oregon is the best know and most photographed spot on the 300 mile Oregon Coast! Anytime of the day is great at Cannon Beach, but nothing beats a great sunset at the famous Oregon landmark.

The highway runs right beside the pounding Tasman Sea here & tourists have taken to creating 'sculptures' from the flotsom & leaving messages written on rocks, creating a spontaneous art installation along the length of the road/bay.

On Valentines day 2010 We swam in this very protective cove as Cyclone Rene approached our island. This cove is well protected by tall mounds of coral 60-100 years from the beach. BUt there were still very strong currents and big splashes.

Although the waves are not very large in the Gulf of Mexico, morning is still the best time to 'catch' them in Surfside, Texas.

The beautiful white sand that meets the water and gradually descends into the ocean is responsible for the spectacular color of the sea near Stintino, Sardegna, Italy.

On Galveston Island in Texas, the Houston branch of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) hosts an annual sandcastle competition of Architects, Engineers, and Construction teams. Nearly 80 teams show up to build a sandcastle using only water and native sand in 5 hours time. This was my company's 2007 creation that won an Honorable Mention. The tallest "tree trunk" stands about 7' off of the ground. We try again in late May, 2008!

There were not many people on the beach today at about 1pm. It's almost the end of winter here and it was a sunny day about 15 degrees, but the wind chill factor was freezing! There were some brave surfers in the water, but most of the people walking along the beach were fully clothed...

The Santa Lucia granite, a coarse-grained, igneous rock that solidified underground about 80 million years ago, makes up the craggy landscape of much of the north shore and Hidden Beach.
