This is Concordia Cemetery in El Paso, Texas. This final resting place has been kept to look like it did 100 years ago. Forget what you read about the Wild West with places like Tombstone, or Dodge City, El Paso WAS the real deal. Buried here is Marshall Dallas Stoudemire who in a REAL gunfight, not like at the OK Corral which was more of an ambush, shot and killed 4 men dead in under 5 seconds. Also buried here is John Wesley Hardin who was so mean, legend has it that he killed a man once for just snoring. It is no rumor that he indeed shot down 16 men. Billy the Kid rode through these parts and was jailed once in El Paso. Concordia is also the burial ground for 3 Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients, who were not placed in the "finer" cemeteries because of their Mexican ancestry. There are also 2 Presidents of Mexico buried here as well. I could go on and I know this picture is very brooding and dark, and I in no way want to glorify some of the characters buried here. But in order to celebrate who you are, you need to understand where you've come from. I'm from West Texas and love my home. Vaya Con Dios.
