Honestly, before I decided to simply build a mask, I'd considered creating a costume around the hat that I'd gotten that night that my roommate and I roamed downtown frightening the natives--I'm glad I didn't because apparently someone else thought of it, and she did a better job at improvising a costume than I think I could have. The mask was a very nice touch, I thought. There were some really great costumes at the masquerade ball.
