Al Ka'aba it's foundations were laid by Adam (peace be upon him) and it was built by Ibrahim and his son Ismai'l (peace be upon them both). The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) then purified it of the idols that the Arabs would worship. It is a replication of Bayt Al Ma'moor, which is the House in Heaven where it is reported that 70,000 angels make Tawwaf (circumbulation) of it everyday and never return back to it. Millions of Muslims all over the world pray facing towards it.
