picture: The Linwood Garden Ghost - a Lover of Lovely Tree Peonies?
published by: Ghost_Hunter1
This photograph was taken in May 2005 at Linwood Gardens, Pavilion, NY, about 35 miles southwest of Rochester, NY. The gardens are open to the public only 3 weekends a year in May at the time the Tree Peonies are in peak bloom. It is a beautiful place built between 1901 and 1910 as a country home for Buffalo businessman William Henry Gratwick II. In 1933 Wiliam H. Gratwick III moved there with his family and set up the Rare Plants Nursery. Tree Peonies became the highlight of the gardens, with many varieties collected, hybridized and grown. That year, 2005, there were not many blooms to be photographed, but I was very surprised when I took a photo of my friends in the Tree Peony Nursery area, to see this smokey looking apparation in the picture. Nothing was visible as we viewed the gardens. Within the smokey haze, a figure can barely be discerned, that of what appears to be a young man. His head is slightly bent to his right looking down toward the ground and he is bare chested. Part of his leg is also visible near ground level. Look at it in the Full Size version to see the detail or download it and magnify it even more. After asking the volunteers that Saturday afternoon if others had seen anything out of the ordinary anywhere on the grounds, I was told yes, several sightings of a white, ethereal cloud and sometimes a pallid male figure have been seen with the naked eye or caught on camera by a visitor or volunteer. The Grandaughter of the original builder and owner, who now owns and operates the estate, say that no one they know of died on the property that fits the description of this Ghost, and they do not think it is the spirit of any relative. It is a mystery. Or maybe it's just a Spirit who loves beautiful Tree Peonies! The next year in 2006, the flowers were absolutely magnificent. But this fellow didn't appear in any photos I took at that time! *****For more information on Linwood Gardens, copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.linwoodgardens.org
