Mild Winter with little snow in Plainfield Illinois. Yes, those are fake lily and lotus pads in the pond providing cover for the fish from predators and to help reduce the sunlight which promotes green water. 4 months old and 1st winter.

Just finished laying the Felt Underlayment and EPDM Pond Liner on top of the dirt. That pond liner was heavy! 20'x30' rolled up, required 3 of us to cart it into the backyard from the front. That's Dad posing to give sense of scale to pond size.

Filled with water at last! Water Pump, skimmer, and the BioFalls working....Over 3 tons of large & medium-sized rocks layed around the sides of the pond. Water was metered in at 1000 gallons. Water initially clear, then pea soup, then clear again.

Dragonflies start to appear around the backyard in June and drop on by the pond. Is it the water or sound of the waterfall that catches their attention?

More pics of the Koi and Sarassa Comets up close in July 2007. They are trained to eat from my hand, so I'm able to get the camera lens close to the water.

Daylilies around the deck coming into full bloom. Their 1st Summer in the ground hoping they will fill in for denser plants and a thicket of flower stems in coming years.

Pond in early August. A few more Water Lily blooms surfacing and finally seeing the floating Water Hyacinth shoot up lavender flowers.
Throwing away handfuls of floating Hyacinth and Lettuce daily to keep water surface open.

These pictures remind me about an exhausting tour to Naeem's home in Gujranwala. We were told that there is a seasonal pond enriched with fishes and people come there for fishing. We fished for the whole day and we were able to attract only 5 small fishes
