Dressed in a sporting coat of Union Oil colors , is our 1941 GMC CCKW Swampbuggy. Dad drove the CCKWs in Korea and in 1960 spotted this one and later perchased it here in Alaska. The engine was disassembled but he had plans to put a snow plow on the truck which later he did. I can still well remember going for rides in this unit when my sister and I were just little kids. I dont ever remember the truck with glass in it. When I was 2 or 3 years old , we came home one day and someone had knocked every piece of glass out of the truck. In 2005 I took the truck all apart a fixed it up a little. The truck has been in our family for close to 50 years now and will probably be with us for 50 more as it has remained a source of enjoyment as well as a reliable work horse for us. During the Territorial days of Alaska , Swampbuggies were quite common. These units were more of a needed tool than toys during that time when many roads were still little more than moose paths. Several of the people weve known over the years have had units similar to this one and there are still a few floating around here and there through out Alaska.
