1000 foot M.V. MESABI MINER opened Marquette's Upper Harbor on March 17, 2007. Heavy ice near the shore and around the ore dock made backing toward the dock challenging, but the Miner docked after a few tries and unloaded western coal from Superior.

Was downbound on 6-17-07 when she lost steering control and veered right toward the shore. She dropped anchors and got her stopped before hitting anything more than the mud banks. Two G tugs pulled her off just before midnight. No damage or injury.
