Grizzly bears + a black bear taken from a pontoon boat anchored in a cove near Redoubt Bay, AK. The bears were from 20ft (rocks in water) to 40ft away but swam closer to us frequently. The beautiful badger-looking bear (last 4 pics) was in Cook Inlet.

The Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau is one of the most magnificent glaciers I've seen. The lake in front of the glacier was frozen, so we were able to walk right out to the glacier; there were icebergs frozen in the lake that were absolutely magnificent!

Went for a solo (i.e. no Burt) snowshoeing adventure in Powerline Pass. Broke trail most of the way (I love wintertime!), and ended up hiking down into the valley and about 2/3 of the way up the mountain across the valley. Great fun!

Today Burt and I headed out on the longest trip we've done yet-- 12 miles roundtrip! We headed deep into Powerline Valley; our goal was to make it to The Wedge. We made it there, and it was awesome! Fantastic weather, fantastic scenery!
