This bridge was built in to replace the original that was built in the 1860's. Rock falls and landslides were regular occurances. An embankment slippage closed this coastal road in 2003 for 2 years during which time the new bridge was built at a cost of $

While staying on Bribie Island we went on a 4 hour Ferryman ferry ride up the Pumicestone Passage which separages Bribie Island from the mainland. This is in a marine park but we didn't see any dugongs or dolphins. We did see some birds all the way from
