having done a few very nice day hikes west of 150/mirror lake hwy, i decided to see what the fuss was about over naturalist basin. i like the dayhikes better... thet uintas are pretty, but for overnight or longer they are too boring for me.

wow. if i only do one technical canyon next year this is my choice. a fantastic looking canyon deep in a wilderness setting worth the hike in alone. keepers, water, steep and deep, tight and open, and drop drop drop. scouted top to bottom.
published by ochiker
very cool looking canyon, scouted top to bottom. hard to see down into from the rim. but keepers and tight and deep and steep it seems. perfect ! a little bit of a bushwhack out at the end, but not bad at all.

shots of lower halls creek below the grand gulch. niiiice trip. and that most important of qualities folr extended backpacking in the desert - water ! and in abundance.

very nice side canyon in lower halls creek below the grand gulch. lots of sprimgs all along the lower canyon narrows. would be really lush and pretty in summer !
