Santpoort was door de eeuwen een bestuurlijke eenheid met Velsen en is nog steeds een agrarisch centrum met bloembollen- en veeteelt. Nergens zie je zo veel paarden in de weilanden als in Santpoort. Verder zijn er naast de fietspaden overal ruiterpaden.

The old Zaandammerweg houses you see here are mostly made out of wood. The common colour to paint these houses in is green. As you will notice, thus they beautifully blend in with the rural environment.
