Convict Lake in the Eastern High Sierras is named for several escaped convicts who were captured and hung there. Despite it's unfortunate name, it's one of the most beautiful lakes in the Mammoth area. Come see the beauty for yourself!

This bear frequents Lake George (Mammoth Lakes, Ca). The ice chest survived, but the tourist ran for safer grounds! Update: It is believed that this bear was killed by some out of town hunters: They shot arrows from thier truck, at a public camp ground.

Rock rubbed smooth. 38° 25.757'N 123° 6.935'W . To see where this is, copy (highlight) these GPS coordinates . Go to Google Earth, and find the word SEARCH in the upper left hand corner. Under it will be 3 tabs. Click on the "Fly To" tab, and paste the coordinates in the little window. When this is accomplished, Click on the little magnifying glass to the right of the little window, and the screen should take you to this location. You can see it closer, by Zooming down. Let me know if this works. (GPS Location courtesy of: The Colorado Desert District Stout Research Center)
