What I hoped to be an all day shooting trip of the heavy snows of mid-January turned into a sunny morning quick trip before more snow began to fall. I was able to capture a few of the views of the area. I will add more pictures next trip after the snow.

I've lived in this area for more than half my life. What started out as an area along Lake Michigan settled by indians with miles of teepees, later a shipping town with factories and shipping industries has become a tourist and recreation town.

We were traveling through Upper Michigan and had just come through a spot of rain. Suddenly, there was a break in the clouds and a break in the trees and we spotted the Manistique Lighthouse on Lake Michigan. Of course, we had to stop to take photos.

The City of Gaylord received a herd of Elk from a donor about 15 years ago. They have created a park very close to downtown. The elk are so use to humans that you can scratch them thru the fence. As you will see, some of them like to pose, as well!
