picture: LETCHWORTH STATE PARK HIKING TRAILS - Picture Perfect - #9 Dishmill Creek Trail
A close up shot of the previous photo. The impressive walls of this mini gorge rise up on both sides of you, and then spread out as you approach the Genesee River. The upper trail, if taken, descends to Trail #10A, The Trillium Trail, described elsewhere in this photo guide. The Trillium Trail gently descends from both sides into the Dish Mill Creek gorge and access to the Genesee River is made via the creek. This crossing is plainly visible when puddle jumping in the creek.
picture: LETCHWORTH STATE PARK HIKING TRAILS - Scenic view - #9 Dishmill Creek Trail
After enjoying the beauty of the falls, continue downstream in the creek if desired or ascend the embankments and continue your descent via the foot trail. The creek bed trek is a beautifully serene way to arrive at the Genesee River, is my personal preference and takes about one half hour at a steady pace. But you surly don’t want to continue steadily. Take time to lolly gag, puddle jump and enjoy the many small cascades, mini falls, crystal clear pools and abundant rock formations accessible along this creek.
