Mostly B & W photos my dad took in the 50's when we lived in the desert in Southern California. We lived in a United States Gypsum Company mining town. Midland was closed in the late 1960's after the gypsum ran out. See my website www.designbycandy.com

The timeless Crystal Pier Hotel in sunny San Diego where guests can sleep over the beach and surf. First built in 1927, it is a place where many come and don't ever want to leave!

This is part 2 of my summertime photos. It was 105 degrees while I was out on this day. Agua Dulce, CA is in Los Angeles County north of Santa Clarita. Vasquez Rocks is a county part in Agua Dulce. It was the hideout of a bandit in the 1800's.

Los Angeles is huge. I drove 110 miles from San Clemente on the south to Valencia on the north. And 70 miles from Marina del Rey on ocean coast to Arcadia on the east. I don't even know how many small towns, incorporated cities and other places in there.

My sister Laura, and I, took a bike ride down to the Newport coast. Which is about a twenty minute bike ride from our house. We rode on the River Trail, which is basically run-off from the mountains that goes into the ocean.
