In 1977, Stan Hoffman built a skateboard park in Upland, California, called The Pipeline. It included the first, large-scale, rideable pipe in skatepark history. Among the early locals at the park were brothers, Steve and Micke Alba. Over ten years later, early January, 1988, and almost at the end of the park's storied history, Micke Alba knew and could shred the acres of concrete like no other.

Somewhere, just up the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, there was once an Ameron pipe factory. An unwitting legend in the annals of skateboarding, Ameron was known for producing large cylinders. The "Desert Pipes" of Skateboarder Magazine legend were large concrete Ameron pipes. The pipes Ameron produced in Kentucky were fiberglass. After the factory closed, they left one behind. It's gone now.
