Due to continuous cold weather the Danube in Vienna froze over for the first time since 1995! The navigation on the Danube is partially stopped. The Navigation Police warns against entering the ice surface of the Danube!

Riding out of the Dolomites of Italy via Passo Falzarego to Cortina, much of the Austrian route following a great valley to Sella Neva. We turned north to Tarvisio and rode to the Romantik Hotel Post on the plaza in Villach.

On Aug. 11th we rode from Villach to Salzburg (the salt road) via Spittal, Franz Josefs Hohe side road to view the Grossglockner Glacier. Then over Austria's highest pass, the Grossglockner, in rain and dense fog. After two tunnels and over the north side

On Aug. 11th we rode from Salzburg back to Germany, and our starting point in Olching. It mostly rained or threatened to rain on the way back. We followed a northern arc stopping to Italian ice cream at a great family run gelato cafe on the German border.
