Bison or Buffalo Jam is the name given to the traffic jams caused by Bison wandering on to or near a park road and the subsequent madness that occurs as camera toting visitors abandon their cars and kids on the road and rush forward to snap pictures of these 2,000 pound (900kg) wild animals. They often approach far too close and sometimes pay the heavy price extracted by the Bison. More visitors are hurt by Bison at the park than by all other animals combined. Sometimes these result in visitor deaths. There are as many named jams as there are types of animals in the park. Here a Bison cow and her calf cross the road.
