We took a chance and walked down a steep trail to see if we could find a good picture of Yosemite’s Half Dome that not everyone in the world had taken. Just a half mile or so from Yosemite’s Glacier Point, we got this stunning view of Half Dome framed by Ponderosa Pines. Half Dome stands 4737 ft above Yosemite Valley. Half Dome is also probably one of the most photographed geological objects on the face of the Earth due to the domes unique shape which is the result of two glaciers coming together. If you have the guts, you can climb Half Dome from May though till fall using the cables. It is not for those who have any fear of heights. The view of Yosemite from the top of Half Dome is stunning as is the view of Half Dome from Glacier Point. You can often see hikers on top of Half Dome from Glacier Point and I am sure there were some on it this day. Also be sure to look over my gallery and view the other images of Half Dome. I have one that shows Glacier Points famous Diving Board Rock in the same frame as Half Dome. If you visit Yosemite, please take care to leave it as you found it or as we do, try to pick up after others as you hike. Yosemite is the most stunning place you will ever see and Half Dome is one of the main reasons why.
