picture: Washington National Cathedral from the Close
published by: gbjphotoworks
In the fashion of many of the major, English, gothic cathedrals, the Washington Cathedral is built on its' own Close, a park-like setting containing the Cathedral, as well as the Cathedral's educational institutions, library, Herb Cottage, administrative buildings, and even a few residences. Here the apse and Gloria in Excelsis Tower rise up behind two buildings of the College of Preachers. photo by Andrew Bittner - March, 2000 (all rights reserved)
