1 1/2 months in AK, from the middle of Feb thru the end of March. We visited the cities of Fairbanks, Wasilla, Anchorage, Palmer, Soldotna, Seward, Girdwood and Juneau. A beautiful and still largely wild state!

On 5 March 2005 I had the privilege of being Mark Stamm's "Idita-Rider" in the ceremonial start of the 33rd Iditarod Dog Sled Race in Anchorage, Alaska. These photographs were taken from Mark's dog sled during the first 11 miles of the race.

I volunteered with the Jr. Iditarod by helping one of the HAM operators, Marylou, at the "Susitna Crossing" checkpoint. We camped out on the river all night-- it was fun!
