The innermost rampart would of course have been extremely high, and stone-lined. It has worn over the centuries. It would have had a huge wooden palisade fence, with sentry walkways and watchtowers on top.

Dorset is the next county to the South and South west, to the East is Wiltshire, renown for it's megalithic monuments such as Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles. The small village you see to the bottom right of shot, is Sutton Montis.
