The Conciergerie is located on the Ile-de-la-Cite, and is famous for being a torture-chamber and holding place for prisoners. Some of the most famous people to be held here were Marie Antoinette, Danton, Robespierre, and Charlotte Corday, who stabbed Revolutionary leader Marat.
