A journey back through downtown Hammond's Glory Days. Most of these classic photos came straight from a 1966 Hammond Chamber of Commerce City Guide I found in my basement several years ago. The rest I took as urban decay advanced into the 2000s.

I grew up in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, a northern suburb of St Paul. North of where I grew up there is a chain of lakes, all connected by a small stream called Lampert Creek. I felt like some practice this day. Lampert Creek seldom lets me down.

Grandview Drive was described by Teddy Roosevelt as "the most beautiful drive in the world". It is atop a 300-400 foot high bluff overlooking the Illinois River. Expensive homes combine with a park and turnoff lanes to make this a truly memorable drive.

These were taken from a moving car in which I was a passenger. These were taken with a Canon EOS 30D camera. I like these shots because they depict summer, and they are shots of the road.
