This image was captured during the early morning and shows Mt. Moran, which at 12,605ft (3,842m) dominates the northern Tetons, protruding through the morning fog which often covers the base of the mountains during early cold mornings. The height of the Tetons does not seem impressive. What makes them seem higher than they are is the absence of foothills. They rise to nearly 7,000 ft (2,100m) unobstructed from their base in the valley.
