This beautiful, Norman-style chapel, Resurrection Chapel, is located on Washington National Cathedral's crypt level, beneath the south transept. It features round arches with incised mouldings, an interlocking arch motif behind the altar and mosaics by Hildreth Meiere (pictured) and Rowan LeCompte (not pictured).
picture: Washington National Cathedral - Norman Gate
published by: gbjphotoworks
This beautiful, little, Norman Romanesque archway is one of several entrances to the Bishop's Garden at Washington National Cathedral. The arch seen here is a modern reproduction of an ancient, Norman Romanesque arch originally installed in the garden wall in 1928. In the springtime, the weeping cherry tree overhead makes this a particularly lovely spot on the Cathedral grounds. (April, 2000)
