picture: Debarkation Lecture & Crew Farewell
published by: LoneStarStitcher
Mid-afternoon on Friday, still sailing along in the fog. It was nice to find the Debarkation Lecture humorous and followed by the unexpected crew farewell. One of the joys of one's first cruise is that everything pretty much comes as a pleasant surprise.

Day 2: After a first night with 15-foot seas, which rocked and bounced the boat like a car travelling over an unpaved really bad road, Mom and I both spent Day 1 in bed. Not from being sea sick, as many were, but as a result of having overexpended our energy in a fury of last minute prep for our first cruise, and having had no sleep for over 24 hours. At one point we each felt so awful we seriously considered getting off the ship in Juneau, but then who would take care of us? Besides, the cruise was paid for, there was a great doctor and a good Medical Center onboard and we woke the next morning to the beauty of the Inside Passage, calm seas, and feeling just fine. Unfortunately, in the throes of sleep deprivation, I'd cancelled our whale-watching tour - something I will always regret. The Golden Princess sails some short distance behind us all the way to Juneau.
