Metekhi Church is located on the hill overlooking the river, built in 1289 year by King Demetre II. Sulfuric baths (bath of tsar Rostoma). Here from the city Tbilisi also has begun. On a legend on this place tsar Vakhtang Gorgasal 16 centuries ago hunted. Its falcon pursued a pigeon and when it has overtaken it, it has fallen in the source beating of under the grounds. It was a surprise for tsar when he found out that a pigeon in this source has cooked! And then, near to these boiling keys tsar has enjoined to erect a fortress, which gradually became the whole city. To a legend corresponds the real geographical facts - this district is very rich with sulfuric sources. Here there is one of the most surprising places in Tbilisi - area of baths.
